Need advice on ???Machine surface adjustment
« on: September 08, 2007, 01:10:32 PM »
I have a mean machine, power machine, strike machine and machine. The mean machine is drilled with pin under ring finger and is at 500 abralon.

The other three are drilled pin above ring finger and oob cover.  My problem is that our men's league shot has been medium light the last thee weeks. After the first game, I can not keep any of these balls from going high.

I like to bowl down and in, but no line will hold up because it has been so dry on the outside. By the third game, with 5 men teams, the only oil that is left is in the middle of the lane. We have a left hand straight bowler that moves the oil around on the left side to make it even more interesting.

What ball and what cover adjustment should I make to try and get more length .

I have a desert heat but it does not carrywell on these synthetic lanes, and I leave a lot of 7 and 10 pins with it.

Thanks

I'd try the Machine at 2000 Abralon or 4000 Abralon.  I had my Machine at 2000 Abralon and really liked the reaction.  Mine is drilled pin over bridge, 4-1/2" from PAP and MB 4-1/2" from PAP.  I didn't like mine polished.  Hope this helps.

Terry, I will try the Machine at 400 abralon. What difference did you see and did not like in reaction when you polished the ball? Also, how do you like your Desert Heat?

I have a mean drilled like youre mean and @ 2000 abralon it was too strong for me for anything but a flood but not enough for the carrydown.I changed it to 4000,verdict is still out on that.my power is drilled pin above ring and mb right next to thumb.I have it set up 4000 abralon and polished with power house FF.this ball is really strong for a polished up marbel and works well for me on med.oil.so I say all the machines are way to strong for lite oil or drying heads and mids.now my Inertia on the other hand has been a very good performer on Brunswick synthetics with drying heads-mids and carry down.if the backends are dry the ball loses it's punch.

Did you mean 4000 Abralon?  I'm guessing so.  For me, the Machine with polish was too over/under.  I like my Desert Heat, but I don't see light oil enough to use it very much.  Also, I've recently bought a Roto-Grip Saturn.  I have it drilled 5 x 30, pin over bridge, at 2000 Abralon.  Fits right above the Desert Heat.

Try the Machine sanded to 4000 and then put a heavy coat of Delayed Reaction over the 4000. This should help with the fried out track area.

I agree with Carl. The Machine with say a really high grit, IE. 4000 abralon or even with some ruff buff on it and then a coat of delayed reaction will help get it down the lane.
