Track Equipment and the Shark Pattern Results
« on: June 14, 2005, 01:40:36 PM »
As always I want to thank all the Track forum guys that post their advice on my threads, it is always appreciated and it really does help.

Scores:
155, 201, 147, 191, 176, 168
Total Pinfall: 1038
Overall Average: 173.00
+/-: -162 (HA HA HA!)

First off let me just say, WOW! There was some OIL and then some on this pattern. If this was a pain in the a/s/s I can't imagine the fact we are going to be bowling on the U.S. Open pattern next week!

I couldn't get a read with any of my equipment during practice. So what is a guy to do. I thought it out and started thinking about the semi-success Walter Ray had back during the Earl Anthony Medford Classic playing the gutter. With that, I decided on the Slash. GP2 hooked up too much, X 5.0 didn't come back enough and my foot speed was a variable thrown into the equation all night long. I couldn't find a consistent line to the pocket all night and thus my foot speed one time could be quick, then ultra slow, then semi-slow, semi-fast...you get the picture. I'm very impressed that I averaged 173 on the dot. It was amazing to get away with that kind of average!

I know this shot is designed for high revvers and players that can play deep. I just can't do such a thing without a lot of practice and probably some good pros/coaches watching me on this thing. Overall, I had fun, I did NOT get upset.

What is the point? I'm glad these shots are there, I can find out my own weaknesses and give me a guide on what I need to prepare myself for if I ever make the giant leap to the tour one day. Well, all feedback would be great! Have a great week guys and thanks again! I will be posting the U.S. Open thread soon enough!

Michael,

Our great sport would be so much better off if more bowlers took the same outlook that you have on difficult lane conditions.

The GP2 hooked too much playing the gutter, but the 5.0 didn't hook enough? What happened when/if you tried to move your line a little left with the Gp2?

Hey Carl,

the GP2 if I moved a little left went past the breakpoint. This shot was supposed to be deep deep in the middle, but that is absolute ludacris. The outside/gutter area was my best area of play. Sometimes I used the Slash. But, I was either using that one or the GP2, something dull. Like I said, I can't wait till the US Open. HAH HAH HAH! Even more oil!
