Hmm, I've had my Rule since September.  It has at least 100 games, and it doesn't have any cracks or problems.  I try to keep it at the same temperature as often as I can.  I don't leave it in the car too long (because it's sooooo cold outside) or I don't let it stay in a hot environment or in the sun too long.  This helps avoid rapid expanding/shrinking which may be one of the causes of the ball cracking or such.

BA5300,

I have had 3 Rules and I did not see anything like this on mine. I have also drilled quite a few and have not had one returned because of cracking.

Plug coming loose from the ball is usually a problem that occurs when the ball driller does not clean the dust out of a hole before they put the plug in. About the cracking, did the pro shop bevel the finger holes enough to help avoid cracking?

Hopefully once it is fixed you will not have this problem again,

Same here as Ex, I have drilled 3 of these for myself and have another one on the way, and I have had ZERO problems. Additionally, I have drilled a fair amount for my customers and I have had none come back with any problems like the ones mentioned here.

Drillers who are in a hurry will drill too fast, which heats up the material inside too fast, which can lead to cracking. Make sure the driller takes his/her time, it is worth it in the long run to spend an extra 5-10 minutes than to ruin a ball.

If you're looking for a ball that'll handle more oil and cover a few more boards than the Rule, the GP2 is a great choice!...but if you really like your Rule and if you don't encounter a heavy-oil shot too often, I'd say the Rule should be awesome enough.  It's just my opinion, but I hope this helps!
