which ball?
« on: September 25, 2005, 01:08:44 AM »
i just got a crunch time and i love that thing, i'm able to swing it a little bit on a medium length medium volume house shot, and it provides a pretty strong move on the back. i'm looking for something that will have a similar shape, but more overall hook. any suggestions? i'm thinking maybe an x 5.0?

I think 5.0 is very similar...only a board or two more in back.

For more overall hook.  Arsenal Aggressive or Arsenal reactive.
Both will hook all the way down the lane.

PS I have a friend with Arsenal angular and 5.0.  Both are pretty big in back but on light volume oil the particle angular checks up a little quicker!

Hey MFortney,

LL is correct, the 5.0 would be a very nice fit above the Crunch.  We just have to make sure the pin and mass bias is placed accordingly to achieve your desired reaction.  For a little heavier oil, the Angular is also a good choice.

This is also dead on.  The Angular will react just a touch sooner comparatively.

thanks guys. i'm tryin my best to get a 5.0 on a trade, but nobody's taking my 6 for 1 deal lol. on that crunch time the pin is above the bridge and the cg is right in the middle of my palm. any suggestions for the 5.0 or arsenal as far as drilling goes?

my pap is 5 1/2 right and about an inch up. pretty high track. i want the ball to start moving like...maybe 40 feet, with a decent backend. the only reason i'm looking at the 5.0 instead of the xception is because i want it to handle a little bit more carrydown than i suspect the x can handle. lmk what you think.

Hey matt,

Yes and no...the 5.0 is strong but I think maybe the Angular may end up being a better choice here as it can read the mids sooner and then turn over which will be the better way (I feel) to attack carrydown.  The 5.0 is strong (and very strong) so long as there is some dry to react from.

You can drill the Angular with the pin above ring area and cg kicked right some, similar to your Crunch but shifted right a little keeping the block on the positive side of the ball for a little stronger reaction.  Layout
4.5-4.75 x 4-4.25 cg should be close to what I'm thinking about.  This should do the trick just fine...good luck and keep us posted.
