Title: Track HX05
Post by: charlest on February 09, 2014, 09:14:01 PM
I believe I just saw Mika throwing this ball, the Track HX05, on the PBA League TV show. (It was purple and gold coloring like this ball seems to have, looking like the pictures I have seen.)

so, if Track were following the old naming conventions, would this be considered the new 505A?

I ask this because -
It seems like it has the same core as the 5050C2, but the coverstock, also a pearl, like the 505C2, seems to my eyes, with Mika's delivery, to have a more pronounced backend.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. Seems like they're starting the series over, but with small tweeks in the cores and covers. I do really like the Lx16. MacLelland made that thing look really nice a couple of weeks ago.

I saw a guy throwing one here this weekend.  Just like the 706 C/A; I am wondering if this Hx05 would have been a 5 series C/A ball.  Lane condition were fairly fresh and even though the guy has a high track, I figured with the polished finish the ball would have gotten down the lane better than it did.  I would not characterize it as a true A ball but not really a true C ball either.  It reminded me alot of the 706 C/A personally.

Jeff, I saw on Facebook one of the Track guys said that before the new marketing and naming convention came out that the HX05 was going to be called the 505a2.

That makes sense.

Hey Charlest!

I've been on Track Staff these past two years, and am back in the pro shop biz big time, just opened my second shop.  Been away a long time, sorry.

I really like the HX05, but to me it is more 505C than 505A.  The design may have been to be an angular ball, but for me it is really pretty smooth.  The MX10 makes a much sharper move at the break point.  For guys with more hand, the HX05 will be more angular, but I also feel my 503A is a little cleaner through the front.  Now all THAT said, the HX05 is a sweet ball.  It goes through the pins differently than the 505C2 and the 503A.  Now that I think about it, the HX05 is fairly angular

This is a good looking ball, and I think it will sell well for players looking for a medium to some dry lanes, or guys like me that have medium to slightly less ball speed.

Mike, Great to hear from you again. Glad you're back in business. Long time, no hear. We could always use your expertise on all things bowling!! Track does have a great line-upof balls- good choice.

Yes, I think of the 505C2 as smooth and continuous; been debating as to whether I can use it well on the little amount of oil I'm seeing lately. I saw it in Mika's hands on one of the shows and then on this PBA League show I saw him using the HX05. So I think his uses showed a god difference and the HX05 had a stronger backend than the 505C2, while seeming to handle similar oil.

Now I really don't know which to try? :D
