Lanes have been much tighter - oily lately, asking anybody for recommended surface changes,

Need your style (rev or speed dominant), current surface on the balls at the minimum.  Very generally more oil means more surface (ie lower grit on the ball) but many variables to take into consideration as some times too much surface can look like too little.
