track phenom unleashed
« on: April 26, 2004, 08:36:29 PM »
i have a phenom have had it since october ,but as of late i have had to bag it for lack of confidence in it the ball has lost all reaction the only way to get to the pocket is straight on and when i first got it it was great(as all new balls are),but now ,I have a columbia whit edot what reacts better than this ball is there something i have done to the surface (sanded, polished, green scratch pad, clean and dull ),and nothing seems to help.I have seen flashes of greatness from the ball but now absolutely nothing, The last shot i threw with the ball was on a dry wood lane 3 rd. game I was standing on 10 put the ball out to 8 and watched it slide down straight to the 3 pin no hint of recovery or turn.I have a roto grip that i played on the same lane starting on 20 out to 8 that broke high from there so i hope u see my dilema. As i said if i hadnt seen what the ball could do i would just forget it but i am hoping there is some standard for suface that i am missing can any one help

Which Roto Grip ball did you have success with?  The Phenom Unleashed gets good length for a particle ball, but is made for med/heavy oil.  Even polished it would need at least medium oil.  The PU mave have burned up all it's energy and rolled out.  What is your ball speed, rev rate, PAP, axis, wood/synthetic lanes, oil length/type pattern ...?  Anything about your game you can tell us would help.

Hey Tmt,

Strider is correct, sounds a little like the condition is too dry for the Unleashed.  It isn't meant for dry and from the sounds of it, may be burning up real early, hence the lack of backend.  Did you try getting real deep with it to try and find some head oil?  Pls submit info as Strider requested and we'll try and help, thanks.
