After reading about this ball, I noticed the pin distances for this ball will be no more than 2 1/2 inches from the CG and the top weight is going to be minimal as well. I know there have been talk about how CG doesn't matter anymore in a bowling ball. However, if you track high such as myself, the pin has to be at least even or higher than the fingers. With the top weight being low, the ball may end up bottom weight. Sure you can drill a huge weight hole to try and raise top weight but I'm not to thrilled with doing this. I haven't looked at the drilling specs for this yet so I am still going to be somewhat optimistic about this ball, but I am not sure where this ball will fit for me. I know this new technology is going to be really interesting, but how will it effect high track players?

The old rule of keeping the pin up for high trackers has been set aside by high intermediate differential balls. The #1 layout for the Rising is pin in palm.....for the high track bowler just place the pin an inch up from the center of grip and the ball will be fine. The other suggested layout places the pin above the bridge, so you are definately safe there.

drilled 2 out this weekend. Pin in palm is very strong. The ball does get down the lane at the 4000 grit finish but it recovers very well. At 1000 grit it hooks up a bit earlier but the backend is the same. after throwing them for 5 games yesterday, for it to be a flood ball with the #1 suggested layout you need to bring the surface down. But also beware if you are compensating speed due to a large amount of oil, watch out for the backend, it finishes very strong.

Yes i have the pin one inch above the midline on my centerline, what i noticed was the track was lower on this ball than anything else i have ever used. The closest flare ring is 2 1/4 left of my thumb, it is normally 1/2-3/4 of an inc away on almost every other ball i own.

Ball backends like there is no tomorrow but lacks any type of hitting power, left two flush 7-10's in a row. I am taking it too 1k and see if the reaction is still good and if the hitting power goes up.

Yes my driller layed it out number1 and did the 3 inch thing on the mb and the one inch up for high trackers.

The "3 inch thing" is kind of an eye balling type tool. I have drilled one like this and drilled on with the MB at a true 45* and the 45* is much better IMO.

When you say much better as in hitting power??? Hooking power??? Ball just seems DOA when it hits the pocket tried it 3 league games left every combo of leave there is.

the DOA could be that you need to adjust the coverstock a bit.

I liked the true 45 simply because I saw the stronger roll.

I also track about 1.5 inches lower on the Rising. This is due to the strong asymmetrical core. Even MBs at .015 can lower a bowlers track. So it is not a bad thing.

try it at the lower grit, but if it is not any better I would try 2000abralon plus polish. Sounds like you need more kick in the backends....atleast that is what I am getting out of what you are saying.

Thanks for the heads up i usually need more surface probably try 1k and then 2k and possibly polish if needed. Oh it backends but i think it is deflecting with the 4k surface, i would give up a few boards for more hit anyday.

Btw mine is 2 1/2 pin and 2.5 oz of top weight has no weight hole and is legal on all specs. I track 5 3/8 over and 3/8 up not even close to clipping a hole, like said above this core lowers my track.

Still getting 3 1/2 inches of flare with a 5 3/8 pin to pap drilling.

I am also inverted so I'm a little worried. My PAP is 5 7/8 over and 3/8 down. I may go with my standard 4 1/2 by 5 assym. layout just to be safe.
