Track Polishes and Cleaners
« on: June 20, 2003, 10:46:35 PM »
I need to purchase some new cleaners/polishers for my bowling balls. Though,I am unsure of what ones to use. I have a Super Freak which I know I am going to take down to 600 and then hit it with Clean n Sheen. I also have a Hex in box condition and a Spell polished to the same as the Hex. What cleaners/polishers should I use on these balls?? I was looking at the Reaction Plus and Clean n Polish, but the Clean n Polish says that it delays hook and increases length. Any input on what ones I should get??

Rock, with the Hex and Spell in mind, what do you want those balls to do once you polish them?

I would suggest the following considering what you are going to do with the Super Freak.

1-which ever ball gets more length now keep highly polished, anywhere from 1500 to 2000 or more. Use the Clean n Polish to achieve this. IF you use clean n polish and you decide you want more length yet, then try Neo Tac's Controll it.

2-which ever of the two is stronger and I would think it would be the Spell, You can do pretty much the same as you are going to do to the super freak, only once you put the clean n sheen on put a very light coat of clean n polish.

With this set up you will have a ball for almost every condition. Naturally you have to find the EXACT polish amount that fits your game and the lane conditions you are on. The Track Magic stuff is great.

As far as cleaners go--I like the clean n dull. I have been using it since November or so and it cleans just as good as the Neo Tac Hook it and it keeps the finish on the ball that is currently on it. Polished stay polished and dull stay dull. However, if you have a ball that is shined--but it is caused from lane oil and lack of cleaning the clean n dull will take the oil right off of it.

Goodluck. Any other questions, feel free to ask.

Bob, I think box finish on the Hex is 1200 or 1500 polished. The Track website recommends Clean N Polish for it so that would be a good place to start.

EXCALIBER, thanks for the polish recommendations. I will be purchasing some of each this upcoming week and putting them to good use. My last question is that I have Doc's Elixir to apply as well. Would I put this on before or after I apply the Clean N Sheen or Clean N Polish??

Doc says to make the Elixir the last thing you put on the ball.  Sand and/or polish to the desired grit, then apply the Elixir.

Speaking of Doc's Elixir i was wondering if you can still clean the ball after you put the Elixir on?  or is it necessary even?  Also was wondering if Doc ever sends out free samples of his elixir.  im one of those people who if it sounds too good to be true then i usually wont beleive it till i see it.

The elixir is all as advertised and then some. I began using it on all of my equipment about 6 months ago and beleive me, when my ball comes up the ball return there is hardly any oil on it at all. And the oil that is there wipes easily. Its a no-brainer for 15.00 to protect and extend the life of your equipment. As for cleaning after applying, I usually just use a mild degreaser along with warm water and soap and it is fine. You should re-apply the elixir every 30 games or so though. So that would be an appropriate time to do a full cleaning of the ball as well.

Rock, I am unsure of when to use the elixir, but I do believe I have heard that it should be the final step.
