Track question
« on: August 22, 2004, 04:18:53 AM »
Alright, I've been told to ask you folks here in the track forum....Okay, arsenal as follows:

Light: Power groove reactive pearl
Medium: N/A
Heavy:  Diesel Particle

EDIT:  See 4th post!

I'm really interested in putting the sheer havoc in the gap.  I was told that this ball is sensitive to layout, so should I drill it to go early or arc or something?  One person said they drilled it long, and it wouldn't handle carrydown that well (which I wanted it to), so maybe I could just drill it for control or something?

Let me know.

Personally, I would suggest putting a Havoc or a dulled down HexPlosion in your hands, depending on what core you like, asymmetrical or symmetrical. You have the advantage of putting a solid coverstock (no pearl) ball in your hands that you can lay out for this condition and if for whatever reason you don't like the look it is giving you on the lanes, you can easily adjust the surface to give you a different look. If you go with the Sheer and don't like the look its giving you on medium conditions, you could sand it down, but then you are entering the area that was meant for the Havoc or HexPlosion.

If you have any questions, please write.

I had an idea....I've always been interested in the Revmaster, and now since it's discontinued I could probably get it cheaper, but you think it would fit in?  I could always adjust the cover, but I've taken a liking to low RG reactives (probably why I like brunswick)....

Andy,

The Sheer Havoc would fit there nicely....but drill it with the pin no further than 4inches from PAP, and try to keep it below the fingers. I have mine drilled 3.5x3.5 and it works very good on carrydown.

Your question of the Revmaster, it would work well there as well, and since it is reactive and saves more energy for the backends it would probably be slightly better than the Sheer. Unless you throw 16lbs goodluck finding one though.

Let me know if you have any other concerns,

Hey Andy,

Sorry for late post, just got on.  I also agree with Ex that the Sheer is a good fit there.  I have mine at 4 1/8 x 3 3/4 and it gives me good length with quite a bit of backend still(our paps are close).   Hope this helps or just give Ex or myself a holler and we'll try to help bud.

If you like low Rg reactives, why not try the Freak A Zoid. It has a low Rg, in fact the same as the RevMaster, but a lower diff. The Rg of the Diesel Particle and the Freak A Zoid are almost identical, but once again, the diff on the Diesel is much higher. The Freak would fit behind the Diesel, but I just don't know how much, as I have not seen the 2 side by side. You may have 2 balls that end up too close too each other and may not cover everything you need.

Feel free to ask any questions.

BUt the freak-a-zoid can handle carrydown well?  If there is overlap, I could just take up the grit on the freak a little bit or something.

Hey Andy,

Did I read somewhere that your Diesel was drilled for early roll?  If it is, the FreakaZoid can be drilled for just a little more length and still fit without getting too much overlap.  You would still have a particle vs resin cover as well for differences.  I just responded in another thread(Greenlight go) about the FreakaZoid and carrydown, it can handle some but not real heavy stuff.   To compare the Sheer and FreakaZoid, my FAZ rolls up sooner with a smoother backend reaction.  Hope this helps...

Ok, thanks, yeah, the Diesel is drilled to roll early and arc.

Yeah, I pretty much wanted a medium-carrydown ball.  I've learned when to switch stuff, so I think the freak is going to long I'll just go with the diesel.

Thanks.

Hey Andy

I got 20 games on my Freak-A-Zoid and it handles up to medium carrydown real well (see post for Greenlight go).

One big plus - This thing mashes um up on the fresh. The revolved symmetrical Morepheus core has some snap on the end, even in carrydown.

Hey TenPinsPro don't you think the FAZ turned out to be a better ball than expected. I can't believe its hitting power on fresh.

Definitely Lane Bed!  On the THS, this is my new go to ball.  I'm getting much better carry then I expected for a ball that doesn't have a ton of angle entry.  Excaliber and I also discussed (we both saw it) how low the FAZ keeps the pins for better carry.  I don't exactly know how they do that yet but I think I'm going to have to ask Del cause I'm getting the same feedback from others as well.  Great power for the price.....
