Track RG and diff numbers
« on: December 23, 2004, 03:23:41 PM »
Some companies post how the RG and Diff varies from a 16# to 15# to 14# balls.  Tracks website doesn't include this information.  Are they able to keep these numbers more consistent from pound to pound, or do they vary like any other companies equipment.

I'm going to be receiving a 14# Animal Untamed soon and was curious how it's numbers are going to compare to equipment I already have.

Hey J Mac,

I sent Track a message, I'll get back to you with the answer.  I can't remember if it's on our advertisement sheets or not.  I'll get back to you as soon as they let me know, thanks.

Hey J Mac,

Alex R from Track got back to me with these numbers for a 14lb Untamed.  Here you go..

RG               2.53
Diff              .051
Mass Bias diff    .012

Compared to the advertised spec sheet, the rg is .04 higher, the differential is only .002 less and the mass bias diff is exactly the same.  In translation, the 14 should go a little longer and have just a touch less on the backend.

This is actually good to know when we're seeing reviews and write ups between equipment because I am using 14 and may cause for slight differences in reaction.  Hope this helps...

Thanks again Rick.

I'm glad it's not going to overlap with my TPC Player that has an RG of 2.51 and a Diff of .068.  I believe the layouts will be close.

I'm thinking that the Animal Untamesd will be cleaner through spotty heads and not burn out trying to turn the corner.  Last week I was moving left and trying to feed the Player further right, but it just didn't want to make a strong move to the pocket.

Is PowerPlus reactive weaker than the Player's Trimax coverstock?

Hey J Mac,

Even though the Player shows a diff of .068, I don't see a whole lot of backend strength from that line.  One of the stronger backend "E" balls I saw was the KI pearl, however, I haven't seen anything recent in their line either (don't sell a lot of "E" in my area).

The power plus reactive is plenty strong off dry boards.  Compared to the Player's cover, I'd still like to say the PPR is stronger off the dry.  But remember, the mb positioning is still very crucial in creating the proper reaction shape.  If you want length and strong back, keep the mb closer to thumb or about 4.25-4.75 from your pap.  Anything closer to leverage (3 3/8) will make the ball start to roll sooner and give you more of a controlled backend reaction.  Give us an idea of what you want the ball to do and the Crew will probably jump in and help out, thanks.

I'm picking up a used AU.  The current layout is pin above the ring with the cg to the right of the palm and the mb below and to the right of the thumb.

Now that you mention the lack of backend with the Player I remember that Ebonite's website does say that it the Trimax coverstock is a reactive that is a lot of midlane and has a smooth transition at the breakpoint.

I'd like the ball to push down the lane and recover well and it sounds like the layout on the ball now will serve this purpose.  Hopefully with a little surface the PPR will still react in carrydown.

Hey J Mac,

Generically speaking, this sounds like it fits that mold but it would be much better if you can measure out the true distance of pin, mb and then also supply us with your pap info and we can then tell if the existing distances really fit for that reaction.  Thanks...

Most information you need should be in my profile, current layout is just me going off of the seller's description, haven't received the ball yet.
