Opinions Please
« on: October 12, 2005, 06:10:18 AM »
Ok, Last night in league I struggled big time.  The lanes were really weird.  My Xception was jumping way to much and my Rule wasn't finishing (it didn't appear to be burning up).  It almost seemed like there was a lot of carrydown right in the area of the pocket.  I tried a lot of different things with speed and wrist position without much success.  I didn't get the Desert Heat out (which was undoubtably a mistake) because I didn't figure it would finish either.  So after a lot of thinking here are a couple of arsenal solutions I cam up with:

1.  Bring my FAZ back (very similar reaction to my Rule but maybe a bit jumpier) and polish the Rule as it fit nicely below the Xception when it was polished.

or

2.  Find something other than the Rule to fit between the Xception and the Desert Heat such as a Heat or one of the solutions.

Option 1 seems like the quick fix and the cheaper of the 2, but that doesn't mean I am ruling out option 2 or any other options.  What do you guys think?  Am am in need of opinions badly.

I think option #1 should be good, but just make sure that you clean up the cover before polishing, to make sure it'll still get a good reaction. And yes, bring back the FAZ...from what I've seen and heard, a VERY good ball.

I would try bringing back the FAZ since it is already at your disposal and you would not have to dishout any cash. Try it, then if it doesn't work, then try option 2.

If I move on to option 2 at some point, which ball would best fit what I am looking for?

I would say bowl at least another week, bring the FAZ in case the same shot is out that you had problems on, and see what happens and let us know how the FAZ handled/did not handle the condition.

Quick update.  The lanes were better last night, so I didn't really get to put it to the test.  However, the end of last game, I switched to the Rule, moved 5 right and finished with the last 5.  So I think it is looking good so far.  Shot 640 as compared to the crap I've been shooting.  I'll keep you posted.

Hey Kyle,

Glad you found one solution it seems but I do have one question, if your Xception was jumping too hard, why not try your Desert on that next time and see what happens.  The Desert being harder can actually store a fair amount of energy for the backend, just a thought bud.

I know Rick, and in hindsight, I should have at least tried it instead of assuming it wouldn't finish.  I need to go throw some practice this week to compare the 3 and make sure they are where I think they are.  But so far, they seem to be.
