Title: Track Rule GP2 do i need something else?
Post by: frockc on February 28, 2005, 06:09:50 PM
I love this ball but shot 730 and 686 in a tourney last sunday to take first in doubles and singles.. Shot 279 first 8 then 9/ then X out missed 300 by one pin... But lately been struggling in league a little... Seems like they but out a ton of oil lately and maybe put it down pretty far... two weeks ago i shot 632 on this pattern but had alot of troulbe striking the first two games... Tonight shot 258 the first game then 150 and 160 for 570...  I was just kinda angling the ball towards the pocket and it would move in just a little and not carry the last two games...  Just seemed like all 3 games the ball coudln't move much on the back end or get into a good roll... Not sure if i need to change somethign but was standing 2 boards right of the 2nd dot... I got some clean and dull put it on a scrotch brite pad and rubbed it on the ball and will see if that helps at all... here is my ball lay out.. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/frockc/album?.dir=dc57&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos

I wanted to mention that the last game the ball actually started to move better on the back end i coudl swing it out a little and it would come back stronger to the pocket...

I guess i should mention in the 150 and 160 games i was hitting the pocket alot it just was not carrying ... One of the games i think the second i hit the pocket 6 times in a row and stroke twice not in a row... I was hitting the pocket it just seemed like the ball was never really gripping the lane and snapping...  Then after league i bowled in a toureny 6 games shot 570 first the games 170 210 190 then shot 620 the last three.. I also have noticed that sometimes my fellow through dones't go all the way to my head so i have been working on really reaching for the sky i noticed this the first 3 games i bowled in the tourney...

If you're hitting the pocket and the ball isn't carrying, it COULD be losing a lot of energy due to lane breakdown.  This results in balls to be DOA, and it usually leaves a lot of 10's...but then again, you say that the ball was moving better the last game, so I don't know, lol!

The ball just seemed like it was sliding the whole way down more or less moving a few boards... and Ausie are u saying when there is carry down i should move left? if i'm already hitting the pocket woudln't moving left cause it to go into the head pin or brooklyn?

clean and dull on a scotch brite could help!

But clean and dull on a scrothcbrite pad may cause other problems.

Instructions on the Clean & Dull Bottle says it may be used with a green scotch brite pad.

However if using a scotchbrite pad, don't scrub the ball like you are scrubbing a floor. EXCALIBER uses a gray pad in place of a green pad, and he just barely rubs the ball at all. He says this will keep the ball looking same as a NIB ball. A person has to see what works for them. Example, I now have about 25-30 games on mine and all I have had to do to it is rub the C & D in and then turn on spinner and take it off woth a white Tee Shirt. If a scotchbrite pad is needed, I would try the gray pad first.

I used the scrotch pad because when i tried clean and dull with a paper towel it didn't seem to make it look that much different... When i used the scortch brite with a little pressure in small circles it returned it to nib look... I am doing this by hand... I used the clean and dull after league at home ...  What problems could the scrotch brite pad cause and if i shoudln't use it what should i use instead???

frockc,

Grey scotchbrite is about 800-1000grit.

I have been doing this for some time on quite a few different bowling balls, and as long as the box surface is dull(or you want to keep the ball dull) it will not affect the ball in a bad manner. Clean n Dull is a deep cleaner, and many feel that it should only be used every so often because of how strong it is. Long before I was a staff member I asked Del Warren about it and he said it could be used daily without any ill effect.
