Title: Track Rumor
Post by: htotheizzo3561 on September 08, 2008, 02:14:26 PM
I hope the rumor I heard at my local pro shop today is false.

Is track out of business?

I think Track may be stronger than they were before the buyout if what I see locally is any indication. I never used to see a single Track ball being thrown around here other than my own and now I am seeing several Track balls being thrown.

Based on that, I very much doubt the rumor.

As a staff member, I can tell you I have heard nothing of this. The product they are releasing is unbelievable and has a huge buzz going on.
You have any idea who/where this rumor came from?

Why would they shut down a brand that exceeded sales quota's by over 40 percent, that is why they had the bash in Vegas???

Your shop guy was right at one time, it was originally going to be shut down after the buyout before hiring a brand manager that idea was then changed. Then the first plan was mid priced only and then when Paul was brought on they had already given the green light to go full out.

I know the now former Ebonite rep very well that was working for them at the time, so at some point your shop guy was correct. Nothing like a company that give's the rep a sales award for growth for the region and then two months later fires you for small things. I buy alot less of the Ebonite brand's now after knowing the details of how people get the shaft from them.

Please help me here, I am loosing track of all of the companies.

So, RotoGrip - Storm are together,  Ebonite - Hammer - Track and Columbia ?

AMF ? & Brunswick and then some of the independents such as 900 Global (aka Dynathane ), Lane #1, Lane Masters, Visionary.  Is this accurate.

Dynothane was part of the asset aquisition of Columbia. The brand was not continued. Global 900 is a new company. They pour for themselves and AMF and I believe some for Storm. I don't believe they actually own AMF but I could be wrong. Ebonite Int'l consist of four brands of bowling balls: Ebonite, Hammer, Columbia, and Track. They are all poured in Hopkinsville.

I think Storm poured the very first batch of the Breaks, then Global took over.

As for sales,  can't speak for the country, but here, Hammer is by far the biggest seller, then Columbia in high end models.  Ebonite leads in mid price and entry level models.  The Rising did not live up to all the hype. did not hook in oil for most,  but worked well on lighter pattern's.

So far only sold one Uprising.  Only had one call for it!!!!

900 global, is the remains of guys who didnt go over with the Ebonite buyout of the old Columbia Ind. Dynothane was continued as a over seas company only until it was completly shut down. Storm did the first run of Break S70, for 900 while they had there stuff seting up. This is why the first run had some issuse with cracking. Then they starting pouring there own stuff. 900 also does AMF and they also pour for Lane 1.

Ebonite is making some of the old Track cleaner/ball care products after they tested them. Certains one are under the "Powerhouse" label.

For the record Olathe is a part of the Kansas City Metro area and is far from a hick town.  Olathe is in Johnson County which has been recently listed in the top ten in population growth as well as income growth.  Further more Johnson County is the home to the corporate offices of Sprint, and Garmin as well as many others.  Do some fact checking.
