Need a benchmark ball
« on: January 03, 2007, 02:18:49 PM »
I will be buying a new ball on Friday and i'm still having a tough time deciding on what to get. I have it narrowed down to the Inertia, Thunderstruck, Agent, Wizard, and the R43. I need a benchmark ball, so i'm looking for a medium arc type reaction. The Inertia is at the top of the list but i'm concerned that it will be too close in reaction with my Black Widow. My BW is drilled with the pin just above the fingers. Cg kicked out slighty to the right from the middle of my span. The MB is 2in right of my thumb. The surface is oob condition shined with Elite hydra polish. The ball goes really long but as soon as it sees the dry it takes a real hard left. How will the Inertia compare with my BW? See profile for more information.

I think the Heat Blast is a good benchmark ball. i've never thrown a track ball, but I was reading a lot and apparently it's a great benchmark.

The Inertia is a totally different reaction than the Widow.  The Widow skates for about 45ft then turns over hard on a dime; almost no midlane read.  The Inertia will give you a lot more midlane read and will be a lot more even arcing than the Widow.  Also, from other accounts here on the Track board, if you dull down the Inertia, it can handle a lot of oil, so you have versatility there.

Personally, I dont think you could go wrong with any Track ball right now.  They're all great and underestimated pieces.  Also, I would sell the Widow and get a Power Machine.  Exactly what I did and I havent regretted it one bit.

wizard is a nice pick, but i think you will find that it is a little early. you'll probably have to take it to 1000 grit or maybe 500 abralon. the wizard is a good ball though.

If you take it to 500 abralon that is a even lower grit then what it comes box so stick with the 1000, if you look at the wizard.
