Track vs. Ebonite The One

The good bowlers in my Tuesday night league, for the most part all bowl with The One. They say that it is "THE" best balls for the lanes (brunswick). These guys are really good and have been bowling for years, averaging from 210-238. A lot of the not so good bowlers have purchased and also use The One. By the way, the shot is the most difficult shot around. The Black Widow is by far the second most popular ball.

I like Track balls, best of all that I have thrown. I am curious as to whether this is just hype about the ball, or whether The One has characteristics that make it different than say my Mean Machine or Power Machine.

Has anyone Track lovers thrown The One? If so, how did it compare to the Track products.

the One is more angular at breakpoint. Overall hook might be close, but angle of entry in the pocket makes a big difference.

Is "more" angle of entry better?

Everything being equal, a ball that has a greater angle of entry usually has the potential to carry better assuming that the ball is delivered in a consistant manner. Maybe more X's, but in most people's cases more holes. More hook does not guarantee higher scores.

i would venture to say that there is no hype in a/the ball that is not overcome by simply throwing a comparable ball on the same shot. i was using my machine and solution on the same lanes as my friend using the one. the one is no better then either of these 2 imho. he is a better bowler,but my balls in his hands are just as good as his one is

I'd say the Power Machine is more comparable to The One than the Mean Machine.  It's a strong asymmetric with a highly polished cover that's clean in the front and strong on the back, intended for medium-ish oil conditions.  From what I understand, the MM is for heavier volumes of oil, probably more comparable to something like the Infinite One or Big One.

Most shots where you can use The One you should be able to use a similarly drilled PM so if you're looking for a Track ball to go head to head with The One on the lanes, that's probably it.

Makes since. I have a power machine waiting to be drilled. I started with a 14lb power machine but have moved up to 16lb and do not throw the 14lb often.
I will probably drill the 16lb for fall league.

If you are talking about the new track stuff The One does not even compare to the Kinetic at the breakpoint. The Kinetic is that strong off of the dry.

BTM's ball review supports this statement 100%...  I haven't seen many backend reaction numbers above 16, and the Kinetic was given a 17.
