The suggested layout will work on both a THS if you have good speed oro can get in real deep. On a THS the surface will help it get down the lane but the ball is still so strong that it wont really flip hard. It will turn hard but it will be a rolling turn. On a heavy oil shot that has good dry backends, you will see the suggested layout with OOB surface shine and show what it can do. It will skid and then once it meets the dry it will snap like no tomarrow. Now if you want this ball for a heavy long oil condition you will need to use some surface to get this ball to start up on that kind of shot. I really say use the suggested layout. Dont give care to the pin distance or the top weight. Dont even bother careing about the cg placement. The only way you will affect reaction in this ball with a weight hole is if you get a 1 /14" bit and take it at the least 3" deep.
