Power Machine & Equation
« on: January 17, 2007, 03:50:05 AM »
Anyone else that has both seen this out of these to ball.

Power Machine 4.5 X 4.5   pin up 3.625 x-hole .875 x 1.25 deep 2.5" below PAP
Equation 4.5 X 4.5* pin up 3.625 x-hole .875 x .75 deep 1" below PAP.
* theoretical MB

I used both on a left over shot last night and played standing left foot on 35 target 19. The Power ended up with a break point around the 5-6 and was pretty skid/snap. The Eq on the other hand had a break point around 8-9, was smooth with lots of continuation and actually started up a bit quicker.

This is the first time I have used either of them on a condition that allowed me to play a deeper line and did not expect the Eq to be earlier than the Power. But that is what I saw.

Id agree that the Eqn is a tad earlier, but its no where near as violent off the break as the Power Machine is.  The Equation gives me room for error if i pull it, the Power Machine heads straight for the gutter...lol.  They're both great balls, but my Equation hasnt failed me when I've needed it.

Personally I see the Power Machine being sooner with roughly the same amount of backend as the Equation.

I think the difference you are seeing is due to the placment of the weighthole. Placing the hole closer to your PAP can cause a ball to roll quicker......considering they have the same coverstock prep (3000 and compound).

I have both of them and they are also drilled 4.5 pin to pap, cg kicked out with balance holes, and the PM's Mass Bias is just right of thumb.  I have my EQ at 4000 abralon + Magic Shine + Delayed Reaction.  The PM has Magic Shine only.  I would have to say my equation very sensitive to the dry.  Maybe the midlane is dry and there is some carrydown, which the pm can cut through better.  I Love these two peices and rarely use any other equipment.
