Tracks brilliant marketing strategy 505c

Could someone tell me the brilliant marketing strategy behind the canceling of the 505c. This ball was headed for one of the best all around balls of all time for Track. It would be like Brunswick cancelling the Danger Zone. Maybe in their next life.

I suspect it has something to do with sales (or lack thereof). No company would discontinue a ball that was flying off the shelves...

However, if it was a favorite of yours then snatch up a couple more at a discount and save them.

Lant these have been sold out.. I've been looking for 15s at distributors since summer.. All you find is a few 16s

It''s always a shame when one sells out completely. However, I found a N.I.B. Fury pearl a month ago sitting in the back room of a pro shop. I''ve wanted another one ever since I got rid of my first one.

Look around at all manufacturers. I suspect there''s something out there that would give you guys a similar reaction.

Yup I'm gonna keep looking.. The 505c 930t and 715a were all discontinued around the same time if I'm not mistaken..  Sales weren't great but a lot of people loved the ball.. I think it didn't sell because its not huge downlane.. Just my opinion..

Try a pin down green/black Avalanche. That's my control ball that still has enough to carry well. Either way, good luck. When you find that "go to" ball they are great.

There is a 405C approved on the USBC list Nov 2010.

Partial explanation:

1. As others have already said, lack of sales. EVERYONE, absolutely everyone wants only balls that hook 40 boards in the last 5 feet, believing that will give them more strikes. IDIOTS! That is why, today, benchmark balls and control balls like the 505C will hardly ever last one year on the market. If you like such a ball, buy it soon, and if you really like it,buy a 2nd quickly.

2. Even when balls fill a market niche for a manufacturer, if the sales are good but not great. Poof! discontinued. It''s all part of the "what have you done for me lately" mentality of the vast majority of Americans. It''s part of the "I only want the latest and greatest of whatever" or people won''t think I''m cool.

I also had been recently looking to try that specific ball, a 505C. You know what? There were hardly any around. If there were, people wanted a ton of money for them. I told them to shove it. I think Track shot themselves in the foot, again, by discontinuing the 505C.

IMO  the kinetic -505 "shuttle" core...had the best and most consistent roll in their product line...

The 505T taken to 4000 and shined is pretty close for me to my 505C's.

It's a nice looking ball but this could be another overseas ball like the 408C.

I checked and it''s 4k out of the box.  Did you hit with a 4k pad and then shined it?

A friend shined his with Motiv polish and has good length and backend.  I have never seen a 505C but I heard it''s quite good.  My friend saw Dave Wodka use one at the nats in singles.

The 505A is very similar with the difference being box finish and the pearl additive.

I would imagine with very slight box adjustment you cand get a very similar reaction to the 505C by using the 505A.

That being said EBI goes through bowling balls very quickly these days. Many have been discontinued after being released in August. There will be another 5C series it will likely have a slightly different core. Like a 506 or 507C,A,and T series.

The 4s are likely all going to be overseas releases.

The 505T is your best bet. It will give you similar ball motion like the 505C, only about 3-5 boards (Depending on rev rate and speed) more at every spot on the lane then the 505C. The 505A no matter what you do to it will always be about 4 feet longer and about 3 boards sharper on the backend then the 505C. No matter what you do the 505A will always be more skid flip. Even with the same layout and a duller finish the 505A is more skid flip.

Sir, the 505C was around for about a full year... And with today's bowling ball releases, that's a long time...

As good as a ball as it was, anytime a company comes out with a newer model, the old model falls off... Even if the newer model is a completely different reaction...

To avoid this, if possible, it would be great if they brought out the whole series at the same time...

Example, 505C, 505A, and 505T... They the public would see that they are three different balls... But that is probably a major production problem for a company to do that...

So they come out one at a time...  And the buying public still thinks newer is better...
