Trade Show, and Pro Shop Seminar Experience.
« on: July 19, 2007, 06:22:03 PM »
Well my fellow Legion members, I finally was able to attend the entire distributor Trade show/Seminar event.  The day event kicked off Wed. with the Pro Shop seminar. The show was kicked off with the complete Ebonite International Umbrella leading off. With every brand represented with each brand manager, and then a staff member who was familiar with each products reactions. The one that was different was only with one of the brands. The brands of Ebonite, Hammer, and Columbia 300 all had PBA Staffers as the staff member who knew the reactions of the products. Then you had Track, and there to represent us was our brand manager, Paul Figliomeni, and then a man that all of Legion members know. The Vice President of the Track Legion Carl Hurd. While I sat in the audience representing C-G Pro Shop, and they talked about the three Track balls that are going to be out in a few months. They held back no where, yet the presentation was short due to the run over of time from the other brands who had a lot more to break down and inform us on. The fact that what Paul stated about the Rising was amazing. First he made it known that it was heavy then any other core at the weight of 7lbs. He then made it know that it was also the holder of the strongest Mass Bias rating ,for a single density core, at 0.031.

Paul also stated how innovated the web site will be. From what he said Fast trackers, the wait will be well worth it. The one thing on the web site will be a you tube type of area where , you will be able to download and watch a video of the correct way to layout a 360 degree layout.  The way he described the web site made it seam to be the type of website that you would see on other business sites. He stated the interactive features would make every other web site seem completely obsolete. So when the site is fully up and running I cant wait to see you guys over there making post. This will be something you wont want to miss. Also if you have to pick one ball from the new line the one to get is the Kinetic. First ball I have ever seen mid-lane god but still not squirt on the backend when it has some carry-down present.

Also when it comes to Paul on a personal note. When most guys like myself think about someone who is a brand manager you walk in with the idea that they will be somewhat snobbish. I am not saying all are like this but you get the idea that they may be like that. Now when it comes to Paul you would never know he was a brand manager. When he is among the guys and average bowlers, he comes across as one of the guys you have known for years. Very well able to get along with, and IMO a great person to be in the position of brand manager.

The biggest thing that happen for me was nothing to do with Track. This would have to take place when Mo got up to present his new LevRG (pronounced leverage). He made it a point to state that as of the last two hours that track had the heaviest and highest MB ball on the market. He then stated but that was two hours ago and now it is obsolete. He stated that his EzRev core with the top hood was heavier at 7.6lbs. He also made it known that his ball had a Mass Bias rating of .033, and a spin time of around 4.9 seconds. I took this as the throwing down of  gauntlets, like a verbal challenge.  Will this challenge be matched, only time can tell and IMO only track can match what Mo can do.

Yes Scoot, you are dead on.  Fig, Carl and myself have discussed this concept in detail to make sure we can present it to everyone in a manner that would be extremely easy to comprehend.  You know me, I've always tried to simplify everything.  Maybe due to the fact that simple minds like simple things...

Again very true.  Carl and my services will be available to everyone on our own site and it feels good to know I had a hand in the design and layout.  It's like the new scorers you guys see in bowling centers that you could tell were written and designed by programmers and not bowlers because they're not very "bowler" user friendly.

Well said Scoot, don't know if you got to throw Carl's but mine is definitely that.  It's strong but not overly strong, no over/under which you guys know how much I complain about due to my physical game being slightly rev dominant with a high axis rotation.  This ball is "extremely nice"...

Hey X,

You will really like that ball in particular.  I worked with about 8-10 strong handed players at the Ebonite showcase (Carl and I put Track balls in at least 100 bowlers) at Texas Station and 2-3 guys really said they wanted to buy that Demo ball...lol.  One especially stands out, maybe because he was there for like 2 hrs just throwing the Rising across the 6 or 8 lanes we had in the Track area.  He wouldn't put it down...haha  He went across all the lanes just crushing the pins each lane...pretty nice to watch.  Big Wes snuck in at the end of the night and then he just started smashing with it...

The timing of this release in conjunction your injury will probably work out fine.  Hang in there buddy...

Bill,

I will be doing Classic Indiana with Fig, along with Detroit and York. Will you be attending York?

Fig is doing Ace East himself. I believe that Rick is set to do Cal Bowling.

Scoot, I was at the Ace Mitchell show as well.. Good show for the most part, but I prefer being on the lanes with the bowlers (like Classic's show) and actually seeing the ball motions.

We hear the same thing every year in all of the seminars, limited release balls, once or twice a year, etc..  HP, UMP, MP, Entry level, plastic, blah blah blah..  All the numbers presented, etc, can be read on the ball talker sheets they send out..

I am excited to see the Rising core and was intrigued by the new Track website, but other than that, same ole same ole...... I wish they would have throw together some comparison videos like Brunswick or Mo..

Did you bowl on Wednesday or golf on Friday?

I was going to bowl but I had to make an unexpected trip back (that I almost died doing), so I had to back out. I didn't golf today not good enough and wanted to sleep in my own bed.

I don't think I will be at any other shows. I know carl has picked someone to head to at least one more in two weeks. I would love to go but unless he says otherwise I am stayin with the shop.

So Rick I take it that Carl will probly have me video tape him throwing. If this is so he may need to give me a big insentive. I am telling he could be on fire and just ripping racks. Yet the minute I say ok I'm filming this one, it is like he just put on his shoes after a year off from the game.
