New Ball Suggestion
« on: March 20, 2006, 09:19:22 AM »
Ok , i am a left handed bowler with med revs and a ball speed of about 16,17mph. i throw my ball out to about the 10,11th board and i bowl on heavy,med-oil synthetic lanes. i was looking for a ball from track that will go out deep ( will grip the lanes ) and will come back and hit hard at the end. i am open to any suggestions

Hey Brandon,

I have 2 suggestions for you...I would either go with a Arsenal Reactive or a Solution Power Plus Solid...these two would handle the heavy side of mediums quite well...

You could also get away with the Artillery depending on what type of layout would suit you best. The reason I say this is because I have used the Artillery on the heavy side of mediums when the Reactive would NOT make it back to the pocket. I have found that Pearl Reactives respond better to the dry when the Solid Reactive equipment doesn't recover well...hope this helps and God Bless you buddy! Have a great week!

Hey Michael ,

Just watched the movie of you and the Artillery all i can say is WOW!. from the way of the lanes they looked about med-heavy oiled synthetic lanes just about what i bowl on every week. The ball i think could match what i am looking for in a ball going out deep and comming back hard. Do you have any suggestions on a layout that could help with the ball going long and comming in hard ?

Brandon,

Answer me these questions and I'll give you my thoughts buddy.

On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the LEAST and 10 being the MOST:
This is basing on the comments of you wanting the Artillery too.

1. How much length are you wanting?
2. How much overall hook are you wanting?

Final question, not relating to the 1-10 method.
Do you happen to know your PAP by any chance?

God Bless you and have a great week!

On a scale of 1-10

Overall Hook about ( 6 )
Length ( 4 )

And dont have my pap off the top of my head but i am going to the alley tommorow night and will get it off my pro shop and post back the information to you.

Hey Brandon,

So your not wanting much length and you are wanting fair overall hook.

Using my style as an example:

PIN BELOW THE RING FINGER -- These type of layouts give me early hook in the heads and provide a smooth stable arc on the backend. They also shorten the core as well.

PIN ABOVE THE RING FINGER -- These type of layouts give me maximum length in the heads and save much of the coverstocks energy for the dry backends. In a nutshell, these type of layouts provide mostly skid/snap and very archy reactions. They also make the core taller.

If you are not wanting much length I would go with something PIN BELOW, but if you want alot of length and alot of snap, I would go with something PIN ABOVE...I'll be able to give you a more clearer answer when you tell me what your PAP is. Hope this helps for the time being, God Bless you and have a great week!

Michael ,

I was thinking and looking into getting a robo rule. watching your video and seeing the break that the ball has to it and i found out that its just what i need . something that i can depend on to grip when i throw the ball out and come back on the heavier sets of oil. Could you give me some feedback on this ball buddy.

Brandon,

The Robo Rule is an awesome and extremely unique bowling ball. When I first threw the Rule GP2 I didn't think I would see another dull ball that rolls pretty early in oil and kicks into another gear on the backends......I was wrong, the Robo is very similiar to the GP2 only it offers up even more backend.

I hope this info helps,
Carl
