Carl & Sixcranker,
I understand what you are saying and it is true and toomanytenpins seems satisfied ...temporarily, BUT the Track world-wide customer base (such as it may be now) is not just the ballreviews world.
There are three other factors or considerations that I think make getting the Rising out sooner than the current marketing date relatively important.
1. No matter how little is necessary in modifying the Kinetic to handle heavier oil, it is still not an "oiler" and most people, pro shops included are very hesitant to sand any ball rougher to make it do what may be required.
2. Track needs to put their new initial arsenal "on the shelf" for presentation to those Track fans who are looking for a new TRACK arsenal for the new year. The 3 balls: Rising, Kinetic and Temper should handle the medium-light all the way to heavy oil, which is what 95% of good bowlers need. The fact that all three are not there could bother many potential customers.
3. It is THE oiler, the big hooker that always, like it or not, makes the biggest impression on 99% of the people wanting new balls and people walking into the pro shop "off the street". You know that's true, whether or not it's true for you personally or not. Track's NOT HAVING That major oiler on the shelf, ready to picked up FOR THE NEW SEASON can have long ranging implications for many bowlers. This doesn't apply to those who read ballreviews regularly. It can, however, apply to ballreview winter season regulars who come back here in late August, getting ready for the new season.
OK, it's also true that a big enough "splash" in November or December can recoup a lot of lost exposure and advertisement, but a lot could remain lost.
Of course the biggest stumbling blocks may be the Ebonite production line and bean counters (administration) now handling 4 major ball manufacturers.
Just my 2 cents.
