Been awhile, but getting the itch for a new ball!
« on: July 08, 2008, 07:55:57 AM »
And I've been out of the loop as far as new equipment deliberately.  I knew that if I kept up with it all I'd just want to buy every other new ball that came out.  Anyhow, here is what I have right now.

Cell - I use the Cell when playing deeper or when I'm having problems getting anything else to turn over.  It's also been a pretty decent ball on a fresh league shot.

Rival - This is drilled to be earlier, to give me a smooth, predictable reaction.  I haven't used it as much as other pieces, since I often want more at the back end than this gives me.

Kinetic - This has been my go to ball since I picked it up.  It's great on the fresh house shot, and I can also stick with it longer with small moves or an increase in ball speed.  If nothing else is working, I go back to the Kinetic.  It doesn't seem to have the backend punch that it did at the beginning, but I still really like it's reaction.

Venus - This ball honestly doesn't get much play.  It seems to be too close in reaction to my Kinetic, and all things being equal I'm more comfortable with the Kinetic.

Now, with all that in mind, does anyone have a recommendation for a recent release that I should try out?  I'm a bit on the speed dominant side, and play the lanes fairly straight.  I prefer to stay in the track area if at all possible.  When I seem to run into trouble is the third game, when the Kinetic is too strong to keep on the right side, but adding speed causes it to skate too far.  Any thoughts, or do you need any more info?

Should be able to stay in the same line as the Kinetic when it gets too strong to keep on the right you can go to the Neptune I would think....

His problem from what I understand is that come the third game he cant control the backend of the ball. He will try to mae the ball skid more with more speed but then the ball wont make its move off the break. So he would need something that would give him good control. The Neptune wouldnt be bad if he had a problem with getting the ball down the lane.

Scoot--

You understand my dilemna perfectly.  I'm a bit on the speed dominant side, so that's the kind of trouble I get into by the third game.  I can put a little more on it to make it hold down the lane, but then it holds TOO well.

splendorlex,

I tend to agree with Scoot here......if in the later shifts the Kinetic gets a bit squirty then the Kinetic Energy is the natural choice. It rolls earlier than the Kinetic, but it still has movement down lane(just not as much as the original).

I'll look into the KE then.  With all the success the Kinetic has given me, it sounds good!
