How does the Uprising deal with surface???? I need some thoughts of people of who have dealt with it at any surface out of box.

I tried mine OOB on my second shift league and the ball was way too squirty for me. It was hitting weak and washing out. I took it down to 1000 and it's much stronger now. I have the #1 drill on it.

I took mine to 2000 and couldnt use it unless the lane was flooded otherwise the ball hit like a dud. I took it up to 4000 and was able to use it only on freshly oil. I never used it oob surface which is polished. Thinking about polishing it so I can use it more often. Love the reaction and hitting power as long as there is enough oil.

For me, with polish on any surface(even oob) made it extremely over/under.  I prefer it at 2000.  Much more control for me and a good ball to go to when the Rising can no longer stay right.

Does it really matter?

I have mine with the #5 drilling and out of box, it works really well on a fresh THS even though I was wanting it to end up a little weaker, with this drilling it is 3 boards less than my gravity shift but has better control and hitting power when the 3rd game rolls around witch is good because this has been my worst game lately. So what I have seen the Uprising works better with the box finish if you go with a weaker layout.

Drilled mine, with the suggested number 1 layout. I rolled down the lane and for the first game I had alot of over/under. I took it into the shop and tossed it on the haus and brouht it to 4000 abralon. It now has no over under reaction for me.

I can't use either of mine, without polish, they are to strong and burn up more than I would like. Are usable, but I find alot more use with them in a 2000 abralon polished state.

Herb, you have people here say that they have this ball at 1000 sanded to OOB 4000 polished. I would suggest you toss it with OOB cover and tweak from there. Too over/under then knock off the polish and go from there.

I bowl on a lot of patterns being on an amateur tour, and sometimes with patterns comes the necessity for a ball with some length. But this length is not a polished pearls push length, more of don't burn up in the heads/mid's type of length. My Uprising comes tomorrow, I cant wait, and hope that it is everything i have heard from all you guys.

thanks alot,
