USBC Rules?
« on: May 26, 2005, 01:03:02 AM »
So I see that now Storm and Brunswick have release letters expressing their views on the whole USBC garbage. I was woundering if Columbia Inc/Track is going to release anything. I think it's really bad these rules and will just force alot of people out of bowling. I used to be a fan of no weight holes but have seen the advantages of them. Now I do not think that I have a single ball that doesn't have an extra hole in it. The USBC is really not takeing into consideration that no matter what advantage an extra hole gives you it's still doesn't mean that you can just go to the lanes and bowl an 800. Out of all the equipment I have if I do not throw it correct then it will not work no matter how many holes I have in it or how dry the lanes are. I really think the USBC should look into things like the weight of the pins or the oil conditions. Either that or the USBC will find that they will loose mass ammounts of members and turn bowling into nothing more then people throwing plastic balls without their thumbs in them while lazer lights and music are on!!!!!

I don't think that Track and Columbia should say anything at all, all the other ball companies are doing a great job at telling USBC that there full of !@$&.

GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS

Sad to say, the USBC is dangerously out of touch with many bowlers.
They just don't understand that they will drive bowlers and leagues
away.  A league can easily exist without sanctioning.  The biggest issues
are the awards and insurance.  Their insurance policy for league money is good,
but it has several very important loopholes can could be very costly to a league.

My view is this simple:

I pride myself on knowing layouts. When a bowler comes into my shop I know that I am going to give them the ball reaction that they desire. It took me a long time to learn the process of matching a bowler to a layout and a piece of equipment. I feel that if this proposal goes through, it will put every driller on an even playing field(other than fit ofcourse). Other than fit, which many bowers are not fit properly as is, I feel that it will restrict pro shops to the "KMART BALL DRILLING".  Every ball company will be affected as will every bowler. It is not a rule that should be passed.

I have stated this many times in the Misc Forum, if the lane conditions stay the same then a label drilling is not going to handicap most of the bowlers out there. If they want scores down, then they need to attack the lanes, not the equipment.
