my Track experience..
« on: June 01, 2007, 02:44:03 AM »
Hey everyone, i've been experimenting around different companies for a while now. So far the companies i experimented are Hammer, Brunswick, and currently Dyno-Thane. With Hammer and Brunswick (never got to throw the Dyno yet), they both, in my opinion, are junk. For Brunswick, i'm not sure if it's me, but the hit they give me is nothing good. The hook is good the first day you throw it, then its nothing. For Hammer, right now i'm thinking my Toxic is already dead. I've thrown it about 20 games, and the only time it hooked was the first 5. Now it doesn't hook, and it definetly doesn't hit like it used to either. I'm really unhappy with both these companies, and maybe Dyno-Thane will give me a different look.

Now, on to the Track part of this.. Track has given me the best hook on the lane, and DEFINETLY the best hit (and trips ) . Usually i make fun of Hammer saying "Nothing Trips like a Track" with all my Track equipment. So right now, at this rate, I think i'm going to remain Track loyal still. I should've just stayed in the first place (would have saved about 250$ ? lol). Track is amazing, and now i'm very curious, and patiently waiting for the new equipment!

Well this is just my little rant on other companies. I loved my Hammer Toxic and Brunswick Fury, but after about 20 games on both, all they showed me was an expensive spare ball.

I really don't get it. I have thrown and owned over fifteen balls, I still own about thirteen undrilled NIBs. So far, the only bad ball I have experienced is the Ebonite Prime Time, even that is not an 'expensive spare ball', it's just the hit of Prime Time is not as good as the others.

Guess I must be the rare lucky one.

Brian,

Wait till you drill up your Dyno-Thane.  I think you will be impressed.  I have 2 Pure Energies, Threshold, Threshold NGS, Black Vendetta Solid and the High Energy.  I think either the Pure Energy or the Black Vendetta Solid are the best balls I have ever thrown.

I'm glad to be back with the Legion, i may be staying.. I'd like to stay here, and just test out the Threshold NGS i got. I like just being in the Legion because in know Track balls are reliable, and i like that. Storm... i'd rather stay away from. My Deuce was a sometimes hot, most of the time not type of ball.. the hit was good i must say though.

Storm's new lines compare nothing to their older lines. Balls like the Special Agent, and SpitFire, Paradigm's, it doesn;t matter, the balls are flat out amazing.

I have had the same experience with Brunswick. The Total has not been that bad but the Radical has not impressed me at all. I like versatile equipment so I feel I can compete on any lane condition. The Brunswick equipment just seems very condition specific.

I am one for two on Storm equipment. The Thunderstruck Solid came to life after I took that horrible polish off and took it to 4000 abralon. It gets through the heads and makes a strong continuous arc to the pocket. So far, the Eraser Ragin Banshee has been a bust. It goes dead straight on every condition I have tried it on with about four boards of arc in the last 10 feet. I will play with the weights and cover a little before I condemn the ball completely.

The Dynothane Crisis Solid is a real solid ball. It is not a dry lane ball but if you have over reacting back ends this ball will shine. I already have games of 290, 289 and 279 in the first three weeks. Once I move inside and try to open up the lane it looses all of its strength.

The two best balls in my bag at this time are the Robo Rule and the Pearl Stomp. Yes, you read correctly. The Pearl Stomp still has one of the best combinations of length and strong arc of any pearl ball out there. The Robo is one of the most versatile heavy to med. heavy oil balls on the market (IMHO).

I have a few more balls to try. I will be drilling the Phoenix, Horizon Pearl and Vendetta Pearl next week.

God, I'd love to get my hands on a Phoenix.    I think it would work perfectly under my MM.  The Power Machine just has not been all that impressive for me!

For the OP, I really don't understand how any ball dies after 20 games.  I've had multiple hammers, and had nothing but good success with them.  I put over 100 games each on my Doom and Pain and almost NEVER cleaned them, and never saw them "die."  I understand the Toxic may have been "touchier" than the other Raw Hammers, though.  Was the Toxic used when you got it?  I also have a theory that people who are extremely brand loyal sometimes have mental blocks against other equipment.  Face it, you throw the ball better if you're confident in it!

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

I invented America.

Proud member of the Track Legion, though I'm seeing other companies on the side.

Splendor,

What is going on with your Power Machine?  How do you have it drilled?  What did you expect out of it?  How you tried altering your surface and/or speed yet?

I'm curious because that ball as just about single handedly catapulted my game.
