VIDEO & MiniReview - Track DELTA 1 Vs GP2 Vs ANIMAL
« on: September 10, 2005, 09:26:40 AM »
Hi everyone, did some bowling last night with my dad and my uncles and decided to take out my Canon Elph Digital Cam. It so happens to take short Videos as well. The quality isn't the best on earth, but I guess it'll suffice. I decided to shoot a few shots of the Delta 1, GP2 & Animal and compare them for everyone.

A link to my Delta 1 mini review could be found below...
http://www.ballreviews.com/Forum/Replies.asp?TopicID=96770&ForumID=14&CategoryID=2

Last night (Friday 9/09/05), we encountered a Medium THS with Semi Clean Backends and some carrydown from open play. The first portion of the video was shot on wood lanes at my Home House. Details Below...

WOOD LANES
Delta 1 - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/128177/Track%20Video/deltawoodlanesstoryboard.jpg
This ball wouldn't quit driving. You had to keep the speed up or you were going through the Nose or Brooklyn. You will see this on my first few shots. I left a Crossover 10 pin, a 3-6 combo, a very ugly 3-4-7-10! I believe and I forget what else. I was already standing 40 and aiming 25 at the arrows. Gave the ball a bit more room to about the 5 board at the breakpoint and finally started hitting the pocket.

GP2 - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/128177/Track%20Video/GP2woodlanesstoryboard.jpg
This is my heavy oiler, but today we didn't see the floods. This ball was very even and gave me a nice look. Hit about 22-23 at the arrows with very little swing (to about 15 at the breakpoint). There was enough oil in the heads for the ball to "Push" I could play my normal speed (Around 15-16mph at the pindeck) without having to throw it too hard. The Delta with the Reactive coverstock was stronger when it sniffed the dry compared to the GP2

Animal - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/128177/Track%20Video/animalwoodlanesstoryboard.jpg
The Animal kind of gave me the same look as the GP2, but had more drive. I was playing about the same line as the GP2, but moved left about 1-2 boards left. Very nice, heavy rolling, & continuous through the pin-deck.

SYNTHETIC LANES
Delta 1 - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/128177/Track%20Video/deltasyntheticlanesstoryboa.jpg
As discussed in my previous Delta 1 mini-review earlier in the week, Rick Leong and I threw some balls on a Medium-Heavily Oiled shot with Out Of Bounds from around the 8 Board Out. This is what Rick keeps calling the "Black & White," bsically a shot with no "Free Hook"

The Delta 1 from the shots we threw, took the OOB out of play and actually "ate or drove" some of the oil outside of 8. My Slash and GP2 continued to skate when it encountered the OOB, but it didn't seem to affect the Delta. The Delta was very continuous (Continuously split the 8-9) and I was able to really open the lane up with this ball.

My Thoughts
I only have about 12 games on the Delta, but I'd love to see how this ball would perform on Heavier and Flatter Patterns. I still haven't gotten the chance to throw the ball too much outside of the 3rd arrow. I'm going to try and bowl in some tournaments that lay out Various PBA Patterns and I'll let you know how it goes. Let's see how much this ball can handle.

Thanks to every1 here at BR.com & Track BR Forum in General for all the advice and help! I truly appreciate it. I'll keep you guys updated on the Delta 1's progress through the season.
Enough with the rambling and on to the Vid!

Hey Ram, good work!!!!  Practice partner of mine has the Delta and like you stated, it has a very strong continuous arc.  Especially on the backend!  Nothing flippy but continuous motion/drive.  He has his slightly polished as well.

Tell me something, was Rick awake when he drilled your ball? ..  He walked to work one day and thought someone had stolen his car when he woke up .. .LOL

I have to sneak my order pass the wife.  Think my 4 month old is ready for a 15 lb. Delta 1...

WOW...amasing reaction from the Delta 1. Nice vid angel at the end from above.
Which Elph do you have. I have the SD 200 3.2 megapixels 3x optical zoom. A nice little camera, and btw get a larger memory card and u can take longer vids. I have a 512 mb card and i can take depending on settings like 30 min of play or 5 min of high quality.

That ugly ball has got a monster heavy roll to it. I couldn't use it with my high track it would burn up unless polished like a marble. The GP2 looked like it had expended its energy up front and was dead on the backend. The animal looked best for the condition. Nice vid and great details, thanks.

Hey everyone, thanks for chiming in. Next time I'll do a better job of throwing more shots & side by side shots, for example: Slash, Animal, Slash, Animal, GP2, Slash, GP2, Slash, Delta, GP2, Delta GP2...etc. That way you can get a better look of the differences in the way each ball reads the pattern and its' varying reaction shapes in the backend. I also feel that putting a pic of the layouts will help everyone out as well.

Take er' easy, Ramtart

It's cool to see that, now that Track has stopped posting vids like that on its website.

Those look like some quality shot vids on the synthetic lanes.

Kevin, hehe, thanks so much go out to you for the Splendid Camera Work at SouthShore! I was going to message you and let you know that I forgot to give you props at the end of the video. Hey, I gotta give the producer love too hehe. At least you didn't have to stand on a chair like Rick and I did LOL.

Oh yeah, thanks for the help Kev!  I FINALLY found some proper software and I got my vids uploaded...just need some webspace now.  I also have the sound problem fixed so I just might put up the shot where Ramtart made a comment about me trying to bring the Delta back from the OB, remember that one?

Good job Ramil!  You sound like a pro now.  You must be teaching Rick a thing or two these days!  By the way, I was able to hear that comment you made to Rick about his one Delta shot...good stuff
