Title: Vote for your favorite cleaners/polishes...
Post by: tenpinspro on April 03, 2007, 12:19:15 AM
Hey guys,

I want to gather some data to help present to Ebonite before I make my trip there.  Please choose any or all cleaners/polishes that you would like to see kept for our use, thanks for your help.

1) Clean and Tacky/Dull (deep clean and helps remove oil)
2) Clean and Sheen (has grit and brings the surface back to 1000 grit)
3) Clean and Smooth (has grit and brings the ball back to 1500 grit)
4) Magic Shine (helps create length and more backend)
5) Delayed Reaction (helps reduce backend for more control)
6) Power Wash (spray cleaner which can remove white gutter marks by hand)

Nobody else has a product as good as Clean and Dull.  I have made the switch to powerhouse for pretty much everything else and I am happy with the results but they don't have a product that really competes with C&D

My preferences inno particuuar order are

1) Clean and Tacky/Dull
2) Clean and Sheen
3) Clean and Smooth
5) Delayed Reaction

Mostly because there are no alternatives to what these liquids do or do as well.

Stupid question:  Are the cleaners that you guys listed above,  used without a spinner?  Which cleaner is good for home use, with just a cloth to get the crud off?  I always had my stuff cleaned, but now the guy is charging 4.00 a ball, and its getting annoying......Joe

Keep them all. They all have there place in bowling maintenance. However, if they decide to discontinue CND, I will hunt down the man responsible and kick him in the nutz repeatedly until he changes his mind!

I love clean n dull, and power wash as far as cleaners go.

I like to take a 2-1 ratio of them and mix them into a spray bottle. This helps prolong the life of your cnd and yet you get the deep cleaning power of cnd but it go around the ball like the liquid power wash.

When it comes to polishes I like magic shine and delayed reaction. I can care less for the others.

Personally Carl, I'd like to keep the line because each one does something different.  Actually, thanks for the reminder, I will edit the main post for those who don't know what each cleaner/polish does.  I will also have to say honestly that I haven't given Ebonite's line a fair chance since we were loyal to our brand.  I will have to do some testing to see what their cleaners/polishes have to offer.  Remind me to talk to Jeff U when we go to Kentucky.

I also have not tried what Mutilated1 stated or what jls stated about lane concepts products.  As you know, we get all the promotional documentation for the shop but there are just so many it makes it difficult to try them all.  I'm sure there are many good products on the market but again, a little hard to try them all.

Thanks guys for the feedback, please keep them coming.  Help me help you.....

Joe, (please) in the Track forum, there are no "stupid" questions.  We try to help anyone from beginner level to advanced.  This is why Carl and I are here, to help.

In answer to your question, most of the cleaners can be applied by hand.  The polishes of course (to create a shine) will have better results on a spinner.  The Track cleaners/polishers can be used on any ball and are not restricted to the brand itself.  I tried a few cleaners from different companies that seemed to work well on their products but didn't give me the same result on other manufacturer's products.  This is my personal opinion and results from what I've seen which may not hold true to others in the business.  Please look at my main post again as I will edit and help define what each product does.  Hope this helps explain some....

Clean n Dull best deep cleaner on the market IMHO.

Clean n Sheen this is my general use polish/compound, I find that you can get a much higher grit than advertised though.

Clean n Smooth works better for getting that factory smooth finish than any other abrasive. It is my default surface for partical balls because it won't break down the particals in the cover.

Magic Shine due to this being a non abrasive polish so I use it when I want to keep the base surface intact whether it be 600 or 4000. I find that it is has more affect on angularity than length which makes it very useful.

Delayed Reaction this is my only defense against short patterns, fried lanes, and over reacting backends due to my slow ball speed with medium revs.

Power Wash is my general cleaner that I keep in the bag. I give my micro fiber towel a few of squirt ever 1/2 game to keep it moist for wiping the ball between shots. This along with a good cleaning of each ball after use does cause me to go through quite a bit of it.

I think it is important for Ebonite to continue Delayed Reaction because there is nothing else like it on the market today, that I am aware of.

It reduces the backend dramatically and adds shine and length.  The reduction of backend on dry lanes is very important when you don't have a pearl urethane of a real dry lane resin ball or enough ball speed.
