Looks like that's the main weapon he's used all week...

I spoke to Jabroni last night.  He said that Walter was playing the twig with a Crunch Time all week.  Same goes for the telecast.  I saw him using an Unleashed during warmups today.  But, he settled for the Crunch Time for his 2 matches.

Yep----Crunch Time.

Think Walter has suddenly gotten to the point of winning or is it that he has been using track for the last 3 weeks and has one 2 of those 3 weeks?

The interesting part is that he wasn't coming out of his shot like normal, anybody else catch that?  Walter usually pulls out of his shots but after release.  This time he was a little more upright but he stood on one leg only after release...I wonder if Baker helped him out with that??  Anyway, it's good to see Walter back...talked to him in Oregon for a bit...great guy.  Congrats to Walter and Track!!

Rick - WRW commented on how he worked with Baker on staying down.  He was doing that for most of the time but once in awhile he would go back to his old style.

I beleive they are talking about his spine tilt being better. His shoulders over his knees, his knees over the balls of his feet. This is what they try to teach people is a 10 degree spine tilt. He looks to be getting closer to sticking the finishing position.

interesting that he threw track's least expensive line in the biggest tournament of the year . . .

i think that's a lesson to bowlers insisting on a "hook in a box" ball rather than a good arcing ball.  i've seen sooooo many bowlers throw these hook monsters in league conditions that are dead by the time they get to the pocket.  just pick a ball better suited for your game and the condition, like walter ray did, and you'll score better.

Walter played his "A" game right up the boards with an even arcing ball (Crunch Time). Two weeks ago he threw the Unleashed and played them as well. 2 shows, 2 wins, 279 and 268 in two of those 4 games bowled. Walter's back (even though he never really went anywhere). I also noticed that towards the middle of last year he was slightly lofting the ball, this year he is getting it on the lane ASAP. Might be due to the "new" oil being used, the heads dont die after a game on tv. I might be picking up a Crunch Time here real quick.

The Crunch Time is by no means an even arcing ball.  Is there really such a thing as a even arcing pearl ball?  With the drilling and his release, it looked as though it had more of a hook-set look to it (had to considering the lane conditions).  If you really watched the roll on the ball, he was so far up the back of the ball, hence the reason for looking even.  For the line he was playing, he had to be up the back.  If he was on the side at all, he would have been on the Brooklyn side.  Trust me.....if he was on the side of the ball, there is no way with his release and the ball he was using, he would have came close to leaving a 5-7 or 5-7-10 (both shots tripped during his first match).  If you watched the guys who finished 1-2-3 (WRW, Barnes, Mika), they all played to the right and hit up the backside of the ball, which makes for more forward roll.
