What ?
« on: March 25, 2004, 06:15:06 PM »
Q:What is Mr Revless himself doing with an "Animal"?!?!

A: Testing the waters so-to-speak!  I've heard too much about the morpheous core and , to coin a phrase, curiosity has killed this cat......

With what I've read on this board/site and from a recommendation from my driller, king of the mill, ....Iv'e decided to try one more company....

It's being drilled as we speak.....can't wait....

King says he's got it laid out to forgive my weaknesses (he's seen me bowl, ...if that's what you want to call it) ....and he's been saying for a while,...Mutant, Phenom, or Animal,...."just give me a ball and let me punch it the way I want to punch it!" .....so I did....I said..."have at it!"

"You should really try a Track high-end piece he says".....OK!

I'll report back soon!

Jeff,

I have thought about this, and I love the fact that you have actually dove head first into one of those Track "Hook Monsters".    You will see with this ball that they are very versatile.

Well, after doing some research and talking with kotm, he really educated me on the morpheous core, and it was then that I started paying attention to the Track board re: things kotm said.....with that, I realized that although marketed as heavy oil balls, these morpheous core balls are extremely versatile because of the technical aspects of the core....so , of course they CAN be hook monsters, but kotm has told me that he could drill me 2 of these Animals, and I'd be able to cover about 90% of what I see.........and, that he could drill me one for light oil too.......

BTM said something similar........

that's ok jeff . . . float along with the fickle winds of fate . . . to say that some of us are disappointed is an understatement . . . many who previously thought you were a "kewl" guy have probably written you off and will not even bother to respond to this "coming out of the closet", so to speak . . .

i see you munching on this ball, slightly warmed over a campfire, with some hershey bar and a couple of graham crackers . . .

good luck on your climb back to respectability . . . sigh . . .

Badshot,

I didn't see any faces here, so, I'm going to assume you're serious....

95% of this decision is based upon a recommendation from MY driller who is basically a genious.

And, I'm trying a ball .....if this makes me un-kewl....oh well....

deeeeep sigh.........

by the way who is "dissapointed" ?

I guess you've had Track stuff die on you.........that's fair....and personally, I steer clear of Columbia from the stuff I've heard, but also know people who've had Rocks, Revs, etc for hundred and hundreds of games.

People said Storm stuff was going to die, .....mine didn't ,....my old Super Power is still being used by my brother....but have 500- games on it easily....

I hope it doesn't die on me, but I'll just be diligent in my cleaning as I've always been and hope for the best.........

jeff, i'm just teasin' with you, i promise . . . as a matter of fact, i bought a phenom unleashed a couple of weeks ago . . . will be a good ball, i'm sure, i just haven't had enough oil to use the ball effectively . . .

all of my columbia stuff has been great, and i have a good buddy with over two thousand games on his rock on . . . and it's still awesome.

only noticeable ball death i've had is with ebonite equipment . . . but as we well know . . . everyone's different!!!

good luck with your animal!!!  i didn't mean to rain on your parade, just present a little of my unique and often misunderstood wit . . .

He's just jealous that you are one of the few who have finally made a smart decision in purchasing equipment!!!

Just rolled 3 full games and 3 half games with it today.

If I don't soot 700+ the last 4 weeks of the season I really Suck!

I describe this ball in three words:

smooth,
readable,
and Pin crushing HIT!

I have a Track VooDoo since it came out, thats been along time lol .. Anyways ive had it plugged and this ball is still a beast. It hooks the same when I first got it. Not all track stuff dies, and you shouldnt judge track on 1 ball.

3 game mini-review:

HOLY S#&^%@!!  This is one strong ball! Never thrown a ball this strong! I need time to get used to this.........

This was at my mixed league house, heavy headed 42 foot pattern much drier 7 to the gutter. 18 ft guardian, the rest old wood. Definately a house to use a heavier oil ball.

Now, due to operator error, I didn't have a great set at all....but I blame MYSELF because I've only thrown this ball 1 game when I picked it up....I probably shouldn't have brought it last night...I'm not used to this,..well,...ANIMAL!

Anyhow, here's the skinny.....dry too fast: SPLIT, also, YES, you CAN throw this ball too wide, which I did a few times, but once again,....thats MY fault

Ball revs up nice, reads the mids fantastic and STTTRRRong arc to the hole....it was a pin devastation most of the time (when dumbazz here threw the ball right).

It was much stronger than I expected, but once again, that's my fault for not test-driving it enough, ..but still, much stronger.  Remember, when I picked it up I had a super sloppy condition so it was smoother in the slop,...with a fresh shot,...HOLY Animal Batman

I learned quickly and understood when the ball would come too high, and I also knew when it would RIP the rack!  Only left 2 10 pins which is good for me there, ...usually leave 4 or 5 there.......

Finishing game 3, I was further left with my feet than I've ever been at this house, and with confidence, the ball was coming back.  Last night the ball would show me my mistakes,....if I missed, it was going where I threw it, but I'll say it again,....not enough PRE games with this ball........

I will throw it again tomorrow, and have it with me at league on Tues and I'll report back again.

So far, very nice, very very strong, decent length great mids and a super strong arcing back end....definately a heavier pattern ball...with my drill at least
