STRIKE MACHINE MINI-REVIEW AND PICTURES!
« on: October 04, 2006, 04:23:43 PM »
HEY FASTTRACKERS!

I punched up the Strike Machine tonight. Specs are below!

Weight: 15#
Pin Placement: 2"
Top Weight: 2.75 oz

Layout:
3 1/2" Pin Below the Ring Finger. Stacked Leverage. MB is 6 1/2" from PAP. Weight Hole 1" below PAP.

First Impressions:
If an asymmetric Heat Blast is what you are looking for, then the Strike Machine fits the bill at least. The layout is the case as to why this ball reacts so smooth for me, the Mass Bias ended up alittle further away from my PAP than expected.

Thoughts:
The Mean Machine is definitely more aggressive. The regular Machine reads earlier in the mid lane compared to the Strike Machine surprisingly; however, I have only put about 2 to 2 1/2 games on the ball so far. Picture links are below. Hope this helps some guys! God Bless You and thanks for reading this mini-review! VIDEO COMING SOON!

EDIT NOTE:
HEY FASTTRACKERS!

Originally, I informed you about my reaction with the Strike Machine being smooth. I also spoke to you about how the MB placement was 6 1/2" from my PAP.

After a long conversation to Rick (tenpinspro) over the phone the other night, explaining to him the layout and throwing thoughts back and forth at one another, he came to a conclusion. First off, the weight hole I had to have was drilled only 1 1/2 inches deep.

Rick went into great detail with me about static weight, positive and negative side weight and the affects of reaction. He suggested to me to drill the weight hole another 1 1/2 inches deeper with the next up in size drill bit.

Once this was completed, I took the ball to the lanes to test out this theory. What a difference this simple process did as the ball read the lane cleaner and didn't miss the breakpoint like before. I was leaving alot of 4-9 splits in this practice session. I didn't complain at all because the ball was snapping just as it was in the videos each of you probably or may have watched when Doug posted in his thread comparing the Strike Machine to the Machine and Mean Machine. I am definitely happy with this reaction now and I want to thank Rick for his expertise in helping me solve this problem.

As far as videos goes, I will be posting one as soon as possible! I haven't forgot about that, remember you're talking to the 'video guy' here!

Anyway, thank you for reading, I once again want to thank Rick for his solution to the problem that was. God Bless You All, thank you for reading and have a great week!

By the looks of the coverstock, I'd say my Action Packed had a twin brother.  Love the color scheme, might just pick one up to see how she rolls.

Hey Clint,

This ball resembles the color scheme of Columbia's Backyard Bully. God Bless You and have a great week!

I would have to say, that by far is the best looking track ball in a LONG time. I think they missed the boat on this one fellas!

Mike, how did you acquire yours?

Jason,

I accquired mine through BowlerStore.com! Doug and the gang over there are excellent. I'm thinking of getting another one and placing the MB closer towards my PAP because I feel then the ball would snap as hard as it did in Doug's video comparison of all the Machines. God Bless You and have a great week!

steve,  thankyou for your post on this ball.  to us the ball looks more like a desert heat,  but not important.
i agree with your review that this ball goes longer then the mean machine.  dull or polished.  and as i have said in my post!!!!  i feel that this ball could be a "seller", and it would compliment the other two machines.
IF WE COULD GET IT!!!!!

recently i drilled one for a customer who bought 2 machines in the spring, and then the mean machine in august.  he came in asking for this ball, the strike machine.  why??? because he loves the first two machines!!!! and when he saw this one, he wanted it.

only problem is us loyal US pro shops can get it, unless we order it online.
i told him that,  and he thought i was kidding!!!! so i told him to order one online, AND HE DID, FORM MY COMPUTOR RIGHT HERE IN THE SHOP>

right now i have a problem with the way track is handling this.  i know there are many overseas releases.  most people don't know about them, or care.
however as one could see by reading the post of the bowlerstore.com,  there is much interest in this ball!!!!

my post was about what "pro shops" thought about not being able to get this ball.

and the answer so far seems to be,  "who cares",  why, i'll tell you why!!!!
because pro shops are selling boo koo  {  that's a lot } of ebonite / hammer / brunswick!!!!!!!

according to my dist.,  track sales don't even come close to the above mentioned.

so that to me is why many pro shops don't seem to be losing any sleep over the strike machine.   however in our shop, we see this as a good go to ball after the mean,  and machine have been used.

just wish we could get them,  the normal way.  thru our track dist.

and i agree with the person who said this was one of the best looking balls.

HEY JLS!

Buddy, if you truly believe that this could benefit your pro shop, why don't you send Doug a message at BowlerStore.com? I'm pretty sure he can get you 'in the know' on how to accquire some of these pieces! As far as running a pro shop, if I was to one day start one, I would want to be in good standing with all the major labels (Track, Columbia 300, AMF300, Ebonite, Hammer, Storm, etc.) because it is a good flow of business and I'm sure the perks are there to do so, just my point of view on that buddy! Hopefully, for such an interest you can get your hands on a few of these and turn a profit!

I really want to push the importantance of Mass Bias placement because I am not getting the reaction that Doug had in his videos. It is very smooth for me, as said in the beginning post...this is due to the MB placement and distance from my PAP. Hope this helps some! God Bless You All and have a great week!

HEY JEFF!

I figured this to be so since your MB placement is 4" from your PAP. I have learned this past week that the closer these numbers are, the more it pops on the backend. The longer these numbers are, it basically tames the reaction. Glad to see we can drill ours differently and find the differences in reaction! Good stuff! God Bless You and have a great week!

Hey Doug,

I do not blame the guy who drilled it for me buddy...I'm just letting everyone know that with this layout the MB was at 6 1/2" to my PAP and really smoothened the reaction out overall for me. I'm going to stick with it and try some other things. If I do NOT get the desired reaction, then I will play with the cover which on this site, everyone knows how anti-playing with cover I am.

I was talking to Rick (tenpinspro) last night and he was educating me about static weight, side weight, positive, and negative side as well. With this new education I have been provided with, I believe I'm going to try and drill the weight hole alittle deeper to see if it'll turn up a tad bit quicker for me as per the conversation. I will be giving an update about my results with this. God Bless You All and have a great week!

--Michael--

P.S. Doug, I maybe ordering another one from you. We chose this layout because I had nothing like it in the bag! Be on standby!

I was not at all referring to the person that layed out and drilled your ball. Sorry it came accross that way. It was in reference to a phone call we received.
