Title: What should I get?
Post by: Ernie McCracken on January 18, 2005, 03:16:59 AM
So I'm getting the itch to buy a new ball or two.  I'm leaning towards a GP2 for sure but need something to replace my Triple Threat.  I used that ball on  medium conditions.  I throw about 18 MPH and have quite a few revs.  Toss out some suggestions for me.

Freakazoid, hands down. It is a ball that simply gets the job done. AWESOME on medium conditions.

Ex is right on the money, the FAZ gets the job done on mediums.

Thanks for the replies, but I wanted to stick with something and not give up any hitting power.  I've heard that the FAZ doesn't hit that great.  I want something that will hit like my Rule or Unleashed if at all possible.  I was thinking about the Exception but maybe I'm wrong in said thinking!  I've heard that the Exception is great on medium oil and goes long/strong.  Now what?  Thanks!

My FAZ hits VERY hard. Due to its low RG, it does start to roll sooner than most other balls, and without enough head oil, the ball will burn early and lose its hitting power. You can either drill it weaker to help it get length or hit the surface with some polish to get it down the lane further.

Ernie, The Freakazoid hits very well bud. I think that the Xception hits harder, but the Freakazoid is not far off of the Rule when it comes to hitting the pins.

I agree, the FREAK A ZOID would be a great choice for medium conditions. It's got good length, a strong arc, and plenty of rack ripping hit. Don't hesitate, go get one today!!

Becoming convinced guys.  I was leaning towards the Exception but that may be changing.  How well does the FAZ clear burnt heads?  Ran into trouble last night.  Some guy was throwing a dull Goliath and by the second game, all of us were on the move.  Your thoughts please.

For me it is still a Havoc for this.....

Ball is tremendous on the medium conditions....and the surface is so easy change if needed.  Hit is great and will always have one of these bad boys in my arsenal..:-)

Wasn't overly impressed with the FAZ to be honest.  Like the Slash but think that may be a little strong.

So for my 2 cents....Havoc baby!

You'll get what I drill for you and be HAPPY about it...

I have my Exception polished up a little and it gets down the lane very cleanly.  I feel the FAZ is a little close to your RevMaster if that's still in the bag.  This is your driller's opinion, that's all.

YES SIR, DRILL SERGEANT!!!!!

The RevMaster is gone.  I gave it away for crying out loud.  If the FAZ is like the RevMaster, I know I don't want it.  No offense to those who are throwing either ball, but it really didn't fit my game.  Decisions, decisions.  I've got some time but not much.  Better ponder this more.  Thanks for the replies guys.  I truly appreciate the help.

I should just quit bowling, oh wait I already tried that.
Now that I am back and my Saws are sharp again, I am ready to cut some wood.

sounds like your game might fit well with xception.

long and strong, with decent amount of revs, it'll go long, then flip and rip the rack.  really fun ball to throw.

Well, I've made up my mind.  Ordered my Xception last night from Rick.  After putting our heads together, that's the ball.  Thanks to Rick and all the others for suggestions.  I'll post a review on the ball once I get it.
