Finished drilling my stuff last nite.....
« on: August 12, 2006, 03:14:57 AM »
With the wife out of town, finally got a chance to work on all of my equipment in the manner I prefer...and of course I had some customers come in and ended up drilling an additional 5 balls on top of my 10...but here is what I went with:

Already had 3 Meanies drilled...

I went with what is now my favorite drill, pin just under fingers (5 from PAP) about 2 inches above midline on the centerline...swinging the cg out toward my PAP and the mass bias ending usually about 2 inches from the VAL...sometimes closer, sometimes further away.....

With the exception of the Animal I have on the way and the Inertia when it arrives...here is what I have for the season....all balls are factory aurface..did not mess with a single one!

#1 Mean Machine- favorite drill described above
#2 Mean Machine- pin about an inch from PAP, cg on midline about 3 inches from VAL...mass bias ending just to the right and a tisker under the thumb.
#3 Mean Machine- pin about 4 1/2 from PAP, even with and beside my fingers, cg in the palm, mass bias left of thumb in my track...my old favroite drill I shot 813 with on my GP2!
#4 Robo Rule- favorite drill from above
#5 Machine- favorite drill from above
#6 Artillery- favorite drill from above
#7 Blast- favorite drill from above
#8 Equation- favroite drill from above
#9 Phenom- (found a NIB from ebay)favroite drill from above
#10 Phenom Unleashed- (found a NIB from ebay) favorite drill from above
#11 GP2- favorite drill from above
#12 Desert Heat- pin above middle finger, cg in my palm.
#13 Clear Flaming T Spare ball....

I will try to get some pics if anyone wants any as the wife has the digital camera with her....

Hey Clint,

I would personally like to know how each ball with the different cores and coverstocks react differently for you using your favorite drilling buddy. God Bless You and have a great week Clint!

I'd like to know how the different balls work with the same drilling as well. Always anxious to learn. I have a tendency to do the same thing, drill bowling balls with similar layouts and let the balls themselves do the work. Not always, but most of the time.

My arsenal heading into the fall is this:
Heavy Oil: Robo Rule
Heavy Oil: Mean Machine
Medium/Heavy: Machine
Medium: Arsenal Artillery
Medium: Heat Blast
Medium: Equation (not yet drilled)Will probably wait a while before I drill it too.
Light/Medium: Solution Power Plus Ex
Light: Desert Heat.
Spare: Columbia Blue Dot
Spare: Flaming T

Unfortunately I can only take six with me. In my bag for the first night are the Mean Machine, Machine, Arsenal Artillery, Solution Power Plus Ex, Desert Heat, and Columbia Blue Dot for spares. The other night the Heat Blast wasn't carrying the ten pin very well. Need to practice more with it before it goes back into the bag. I have confidence in the Artillery so it's a mental thing mainly. And the Flaming T looks nice and I want to keep it that way so I'm not going to use it that often plus I like the Columbia Blue Dot.

Chuck,

In a way this can be an advantage and a disadvantage to one's game. I would feel for a person of my style there would be more disadvantages simply because when I put a favorite layout of mine on every ball, I wind up getting the same reaction, thus, it is a waste of time, money, and effort. I recently just punched up the Mean Machine, Equation, and another Machine all with three different layouts. The big positive for me here is I have three balls with three totally different reactions. This is an advantage to my game because I can use whichever on whatever the conditions dictate to me. Clint maybe the kind of player in which its an advantage to use the same layout on every ball he drills himself. In conclusion, how about a video Clint?!? To my knowledge, I've never seen you post a vid on here! LOL! God Bless You All and have a great week!

Michael hit it on the head...for me...a lower rev, higher speed up the backer type of guy, I am only looking for little differences between balls for what I need...and knowing I will see the same type of reaction out of equipment, instead of worrying about which drill and which cover...just change balls and go with the cover diff for either more or less oil....
