which one has a bigger backend?
« on: August 28, 2005, 05:58:24 PM »
Which ball ahs the bigger backend.  The delta 1 or the 5.0?  Tracks web site says the 5.0 has a bigger backend.  What do you guys think?

I saw MaryAnn DiRupo, Track staff player, at the Bowling Trade Show in Tom's River, NJ yesterday throwing a Delta 1. Very impressive hitting and carrying power; great "CRACK" at the pins. Hooked quite a bit; she throws a pretty decent ball. She didn't throw a 5.0, but if it hooks more than the Delta 1 ....

Hey,

Charlest, you were there?  I was I would've known...it'd have been a pleasure to meet you - I was working the Track Booth.  I was in the green Track Shirt.  One of the other staffers had his Arsenal Reactive hijacked....but that's another story

Talked to Marianne at length about both...She absolutely loves the 5.0, we were tweaking the Delta1 yesterday to get some more backend....I asked her the same question, she said "no question 5.0...", but she like the D1 alot, as do I.

Were you the one with the goatee?
You throw a nice ball! Sorry, I didn't realize you were going to be there AND as a staffer. I got lost in the who was wearing what and who was going to be where when.

I had never bene to this type of show before. SO much milling around and soooooo many JBT bowlers. Glad that bowling will have a future, at least in NJ.

You might have seen me, as my friend is MaryAnn's chiropractor and she is his coach. They were chatting quite a bit & I was sorting of hanging in the background (as I do here.)

If, as I said, the 5.0 backends and hooks more than the Delta 1, holy cwap! (I just drilled up an Xception; haven't thrown it more than 2x; have a 5.0 and a Rule to drill.)

Charlest,

That was Chris Larsen.  He and I are from Ct.  He's the one on staff.  I was  support staff for the day.  We run a proshop in the backyard of Mohegan Sun
up here. I also have the luxury of having the same span as him, so I get the oppurtunity to throw his stuff before it usually is available. We've found the D1 to have more total hook (a lot of it in the mids) than the 5.0, but the 5.0 is a backend monster.  Like others have said, Del told us the D1 came about because he kept hearing people having huge success with taking surface off the original Xception - that's what he modeled the D1 after.

Chi - sorry for the hijack...

Hope this helps,

chitown,

It would really depend on the conditions you were bowling on. The 5.0 will have more backend  if it can find dry boards down the lane. The Delta will start up much sooner.....but it is extremely continuous on the backend. Given each having their OOB surface I have to say the 5.0 has more offer in the backend. HOWEVER, I think a good surface adjustment would help the Delta in that area.

Thanks guys for the info.  Glad to see you back EX.  The 5.0 looks like it has a place in my future.  I just ordered the arsenal reactive.  I can't wait to throw it.

Well back to the 5.0 it seems like from my experiance with my own xceptions I had that the x and 5.0 is probably the best 1-2 combo out there.  Exspecially if you like big backend balls.
