why the wait
« on: August 18, 2007, 03:16:53 PM »
i was just wondering why track was waiting so long to release the rising. why wait till 2 months into the season to bring out a ball. I was thinking of getting one ,but it might just be better to wait till summer ball leagues.

We have very strict specs in demand for the Rising. We are not going to release it until we are hitting those specs consistantly on the production line.

The core's weight and MB strength make this a MUST!

I for one am happy about this. There were far too many balls pushed through production in San Antonio (anyone remember the EPXT1?) so that they met the initial release date. In Hopkinsville things are different. Quality is of great importance!

Carl & Sixcranker,

I understand what you are saying and it is true and toomanytenpins seems satisfied ...temporarily, BUT the Track world-wide customer base (such as it may be now) is not just the ballreviews world.

There are three other factors or considerations that I think make getting the Rising out sooner than the current marketing date relatively important.

1. No matter how little is necessary in modifying the Kinetic to handle heavier oil, it is still not an "oiler" and most people, pro shops included are very hesitant to sand any ball rougher to make it do what may be required.

2. Track needs to put their new initial arsenal "on the shelf" for presentation to those Track fans who are looking for a new TRACK arsenal for the new year. The 3 balls: Rising, Kinetic and Temper should handle the medium-light all the way to heavy oil, which is what 95% of good bowlers need. The fact that all three are not there could bother many potential customers.

3. It is THE oiler, the big hooker that always, like it or not, makes the biggest impression on 99% of the people wanting new balls and people walking into the pro shop "off the street". You know that's true, whether or not it's true for you personally or not. Track's NOT HAVING That major oiler on the shelf, ready to picked up FOR THE NEW SEASON can have long ranging implications for many bowlers. This doesn't apply to those who read ballreviews regularly. It can, however, apply to ballreview winter season regulars who come back here in late August, getting ready for the new season.

OK, it's also true that a big enough "splash" in November or December can recoup a lot of lost exposure and advertisement, but a lot could remain lost.

Of course the biggest stumbling blocks may be the Ebonite production line and bean counters (administration) now handling 4 major ball manufacturers.

Just my 2 cents.

That is why in a way I am surprised everything being done out of the one plant. I am not for sure of how big the plant is but still surprised to be making everything out of that plant. Who knows maybe there is plans in the works already to add on to the plant.

The Ebo plant is theoretically the or one of the most highly automated bowling ball plants. It is extremely modern and very fast. The other one that compares to it, as far as I have learned, is the new Brunswick plant. Not sure which is "faster" or can throughput a higher, QUALITY volume of balls.

the DUDE.....there may be some Rising there, but let me assure that they are not the only ones the distributor will get. As I stated already, we have very specific specs that we want in every Rising that leaves Hoptown.

charlest,

I understand all of that bud. I really do. This year is going to be the most difficult for us. We had initial launches from Columbia and Track, not to mention that the plant had to keep up with manufacturing Hammer and Ebonite products as well.

I honestly feel that we are doing the proper thing by not pushing the ball out until we get what we want out of the manufacturing process.

Carl,

I understand. I hope Track thrives with its new plant, and design team. With yours and Rick's help, it will be as strong as ever, hopefully more so.

They don't even put Track or Columbia out at my proshop. I don't know if they will even put this new stuff out.
