WOW unbelievable
« on: December 16, 2006, 02:45:53 PM »
well the wife wanted to move up in weight from 14 to 15 and i went on ebay and found a 15# freak a zoid xout. it was an xout because it had a long pin 6 to 7 inches ended up getting it for 15 bucks. needless to say she tried it and didnt like the weight so in a box it sat for over a yr. found it over a month ago figured what the heck took it to my proshop got it pluged to see what we could do, ended up putting the fingers 4 inces down from the pin stacked as best he could. wasnt expecting much WOW what i got was a ball that goes 47 feet turns right and flipps hard and explodes the pins, an absolute monster of a ball. 4th time out shoot 269 300 256 for a 825 unbelievable. i stand on 30 roll over 18 out to 7 board 47 feet turn, hi revs 17 mph i have a question? is this the sort of reaction you get from pro-pin balls? this is my first one and no one hear throws them, or knows anything about them.

Balls with long pin-CG distances generally take longer to go thru the cycle (sskid, hook, roll). So they tend to be further down the lane before the turn over; so, they have more backend, all other fatcors being the same, than balls with shorter pin-CG distances. The difference is usually not extreme, but since yours was, I'm almost surprised that yours worked that well. Great bowling, by the way. Congrats!

From my experience with very long pins 6+ inches, yes, they push down lane very easily and if you keep the pin in the positive quadrant (right hand side of the center line) of the ball, they can still turn over pretty well as you can see.  In actuality, long pins aren't bad at all for slower speed and/or sometimes the more rev dominant player.  They can help push thru over under conditions easier....hmm, there's a thought for you Charlest.
