Slash- initial practice and league play with it...
« on: February 22, 2005, 02:47:38 AM »
Got my Slash drilled up last night at DJ's Pro Shop. Due to the shorter pin, I decided to drill it pin under ring finger, cg in palm about 1 1/4" above midline, stacked (3 3/8 x 3 3/8). Put a light coat of polish on it, otherwise left it at the same grit level as out of the box. Threw a practice game with it at my pro shop's center- liked the recovery I could now have from inside to outside, nice strong arcing move at the back. Didn't leave a lot of corner pins...

I could only throw it a game in my Monday league as the lanes were very wet/dry and spotty from 5 out as well as around 10 board, but the game that I did throw with it I had a 212 and noticed a nice strong move at the breakpoint. Was playing 12 to 3 with it comfortably without any noticable loss in terms of power at the back or carry.

Hopefully I'll be able to use it more tonight in my Tuesday night league- if not I'll report back as I get more games on it. Another winner in the medium to medium-heavy lineup from Track for sure.

Matt,

I still feel that the Slash is totally underrated. This ball could be the first ball out of the bag for most bowlers. It reads the lanes well and gives a very true reaction...by this I mean it does exactly what the lanes allow. The only thing that I can say I disagree with many about this ball is that I do not see the Slash as capable of handling alot of oil<<<<<but this is a good thing since Track has that covered by other balls.

Slash is overlooked in my area too. When you have so many good bowling balls out there, there is not enough room for all of them in everyone's bag. unfortunately.

Brief update: I was able to use this ball most of the night and for the final 4 frames of game one (all strikes) and all of game two I was quite happy with the look I had on my Tuesday league. Lately I've had trouble getting something to cut through the oil and make a move at the back- this one does the trick for me. Shot 192 and 206 while others were struggling, playing a slight swing from 9 to 6....

The last game I needed to switch balls and didn't, paid the price with a low 143...but you live and learn, right?

Matt,

There is definately a time to put any ball away. Sometimes it is so difficult to do so when you start out with such a good look with a particular ball.

Live and learn, as you said.

That Slash really gets you out of trouble, it's kind of a "go to" ball.  With some (a little) surface on it it works amazingly well.  I wonder why people don't know about this ball.  We have to spread the word.
