2008 Open completed.
« on: March 23, 2008, 03:08:45 PM »
We arrived in town Saturday afternoon.

Hotel:
La Quinta Inn, on San Mateo Blvd.
--Room isn't bad, couldn't get a frig, so my beer is chillin in the sink.  The bathroom wasn't exactly clean, but the rest of the room is acceptable.  We are about 3 or 4 miles from decent food and shopping.

Food:
We ate at Bennigans for lunch on Sat....good food and good service.  Today we ate at Gardunos mexican food restaurant.  It was very good and the service was excellent.

Golf:
We played the University of New Mexico Championship course today.  I have never seen greens that hard or fast before and my score card showed it.  I finally put together a few good holes and saved a 96.  The people were very friendly and the GPS system in the carts was awesome.

Bowling:
Bowled the Rotogrip Challenge tonight.  I wanted to bowl it on fresh oil to see how oily it played.  In practice, I started with my shiny BW Bite.  I found a fair look playing 13 to 9ish.  I moved out and played em up 4/5 with my Anger towards the end of practice.  I shot 244 the first game and 193 the second game.  I think I'm sitting 4th for the day.  I didn't think the shot was overly hard.  Since I'm a gluten for punishment, I'm gonna bowl the BTM in the morning.

You have to visit the Isleta bowling center, go south on I25 and you'll see the casino.  It was pretty sweet looking center.

More to come tomorrow..

agroves, great bowling! and thanks for the wonderful report too.

you stated you used 2 bites. i have one already, and am drilling another one. our specs are kind of similar, so im curious to know how you have yours drilled.

the one i have drilled now is 4 3/4", pin up, 90*. will leave that one either @4000 or may polish it. thinking about doing another one @45 or @60, 4 1/4" pin up, and leave it oob.

thanks in advance and great bowling!!

Sounds like a vampire B movie. :-)

Nice shooting Andrew. Any year +160 is great, but based on what we saw this year I think that is huge. Well done and nice posts too.

Mark

Thank you Mark, it seems to prove the hardwork I've put in the last 3 years is paying off.  Changing your swing is never easy, but it is coming around.
