Sikfish, i do understand your thought. i enjoy going to Reno, but just not every year.

myself, like some others, have kids, so i would like to be able to take them with me on some of these bowling trips. for me, going to places like FL or TX every 3 years would be great. like another poster said, "it would kill 2 birds with one stone". plus, where else besides a place like FL, can you go on vacation and the family not get upset because you are going bowling??!! 

Yeah, I bowled nationals at Reno once and I refuse to ever go back to that town. I don't know what the USBC is doing, because for a lot of people that is their family vacation for the year, and the last place I'd want to take my family is Reno.

 

I know personally, that Disney is moving ahead with the bowling center on their own because my wife works at Disney and the center was moved to her project management division. It's not like we really needed the center, because Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando is more than big enough to host nationals. However, I understand from a business standpoint it would be a great incentive for our tourism dollars if the tournament was actually located in Disney, as the tournament site would be near all of the available hotels and attractions instead of treking across Orlando for your squad.

Ditto on what Mrperfect said.   I also have family working at Disney (as well as Universal) and the entire area actually has been hoping or wanting that this would eventually get done since it was first announced.  I knew about Disney wanting to get more involved from them. Surprisingly the few months after Christmas other than Spring break are their slow period there. The draw of 12,000 teams or 60,000 bowlers conservatively, along with any who would bring family would be a welcome addition to the area.  We go to Florida in January as the heat and humidity from June on just are not very appealling to me, but at least through May it's some what tolerable yet.  I hope this gets done and in the not to distant future as the back to back Reno trips in 2013 and 2014 would be a lot easier to stomach knowing there was an Orlando stop on the horizon.  Moreso if it was a regular rotation like the Stadium is.  Funny though as someone mentioned a little earlier on why they couldn't use the Orange Cty convention center.  My Brother in Laws father works in the maintenance dept there and they had been wondering the same thing, if there was interest there why couldn't it be utilized until the complex at Disney did get built.  So either they didn't want to tie up the space for 7 months for one event, or our mentors at USBC didn't persue.  That nobody will probably know.

Another thought though on a alternate site as a third stop....Most obvious would be Arlington by Headquarters but IF the USBC is as hurting for ching as it seems, no way they could front it....Maybe Six Flags over Arlington??  I honestly don't see a mid west, like KC or St Louis just for our convenience.  I don't think that is a big concern of theirs.

I hope the Orlando thing happens. I have a 2 year old who adores anything Mickey Mouse and the prospect of going down a few days early to let the family have a good time every couple of years would be awesome.

 

I am a bowler like others and will go to Reno, but will not like it. The Stadium is an awesome venue and everyone who says they are a bowler should go once. It just turns into a "been there, done that" proposition after awhile. Plus you waste anywhere from 7-10 hours travel each way with the way airlines are. If you go on those 6 AM flights, the odds are better on getting a shorter trip, but travel days stink.

I am surprised that cities like Detroit, Chicago, cleveland dont bid on this event, with the state of Detroit as a whole, I would think an event bringing in 60000 people would be a boon for their economy, and with Downtown Detroit having 4 casinos, I am sure there is enough space to do one
