Heard statements they are having problems getting cities to bid on the tournament anymore. No one wants to lock up their convention center for that long. I know Dallas had the tournament several years back and backed out. We had a area of the State Fair area that was to be enlarged and converted to a convention center and Dallas said they thought locking it into an event with the publicity of the Nationals was a good thing. Bond failed and so did it coming here. Arlington would be interesting, but being from the area not sure I would want it here every three years and can't see any investment for what it would cost. Maybe they could get a local convention center to host once in awhile. A buddy of mine pointed out last night that Irving, TX is building a large convention center right now. I even sent them information about our tournament and USBC being in Arlington. Who knows maybe they would consider having us after it gets opened.
I've never been sold on Disney only due to the cost. I have not gone to Disney World, but everyone I have known that has loved but thought it was rediculously expensive. Again a place I would love to go to every 6 or 8 years like some that do send bids over and over, but every three years. Lots to do until you have done all the Disney complexes, then been there done that, just like Reno.
I just wish more cities and Vegas more often would bid. Don't see new convention centers being built right now due to economy. We did Salt Lake City the years thiers opened and never again. I would love to go there again. I went the first time as a delegate to the ABC convention so didn't get to enjoy the area.
