Advantage?
« on: February 06, 2007, 08:14:01 AM »
Do bowlers who participate towards the end of the tournament have an advantage over bowlers who participate at the beginning?  The later bowlers have the benefit of knowing the oil pattern for several months (and may have a change to bowl on the pattern.. although it may not play exact, it gives an idea).  Later bowlers benefit from the experience of others who bowled previously... this ball worked.. this one didn't for me... better shot playing inside vs. outside, etc.  A lot of times, new equipment is available in June, that wasn't even released in Feb, Mar, or April...

My feeling is that its probably limited if any as you still need to bowl and compete on the conditions.. but it was something I had been thinking about for quite some time.

those who bowl later probably do have a little more advantage. they are able to get feedback from those who have already gone, so they get an idea where to play and won't waste as much practice time trying to find a shot. they also can think about drilling up another ball to take out there with them that they normally do not have in their bags. you are correct on the most important thing though, that they still have to make shots. good luck to all....

Plus, if you have center that will run the pattern, you'll have more practice time before you get there.
