airline question

I leave next Thursday on Continental.  Says there is a 1 bag check in and if you want another piece you have to pay 25 bucks.  Now if I bring 6 balls what would be the best way to go?  Would I be able to carry on a tote if I have to?  Obviously the best thing would be to ship them, but I still have stuff to drill and I won't have enough time.  Whats the next best solution?  Thanks

MVP I flew through Dulles International(Washington, D.C.)  My buddy did it through BWI and had no problems, but they got me. LOL I flew into Reno and was going to try to take them through security but I didn't feel like the hassle.

I emailed the TSA specifically about carrying on bowling balls.  They said "it's ok by them", but that the screeners at the individual airports thave the final say.  Doesn't help much, but as seen here it's a crapshoot as to what gets through and what doesn't...

In the avent of an emergency stop what would you rather have in the cabin, rolling or flying around?

A laptop bag?
A bag of personal items?
A two ball tote?

At least with my 2-ball tote I would have a couple friends on the island....not just some dummy named "Wilson!"

I did something a lot like this (although wen I flew, I could check 2 bags in April)...

1) Checked my 3-ball Visionary Roller with 2  15# bowling balls, and my pair of shoes in the 3rd spot (not bowling shoes...normal streetwear) and my polos in the extra shirt section (between ball and shoe compartment).
2) Checked my personal Suitcase with 2-ball Vise tote inside it(no pocket one). I lined it up along the middle of the bag, and put clothes around it.
3) Carried on a backpack with personal items and bowling shoes in it
4) Carried on 10-deck card-case as my "personal item" (though the @-hole out in ABQ. never met up to play).

I never had a problem with weight, except that my suitcase was half a pound over on the way home (I suppose from buying a few polos, plus my swimwear was wet), so I took like 1 shirt and 1 pair of PJ pants and stuck them in carry-on backpack.

PS...the only thing that happened to my 3-ball roller, is that one of the side pockets now has a triangle flap (about 1/2 inch) that hangs off, cause I guess the bag got caught on a sharp edge. I didn't have time to purchase one of those travel covers for bowling equipment in time, but you bet I will next year!
