Albuquerque Local
« on: February 08, 2008, 03:29:39 PM »
I just wanted to offer any assistance to my fellow Ball Reviewers coming to the USBC Open in Albuquerque.  I am a native to the Albuquerque area and know some of the ins and outs of the city.  I have been on this site since February 2004 and have spoke to many great people, learned so much from all of you, and enjoyed the many great videos BrunsNick has produced, stared, and edited.  Now it is my turn to finally meet some of you, and give back what I can to help you all.

I will be more than happy to help with any information I can and give and any suggestions when needed.  I am also going to be working the Open as Lane Monitor during some of the evening squads and bowling the Open on Memorial Day weekend.  So if you see a young, skinny, red headed kid that kind of looks like Opie Taylor, stop and say “Hi, Bobby!” Because it would be great to put faces to those I have learned and listened to, from this site.  Hit me with a Post or a PM and I will be more than happy to help you guys and gals out.

Andrew,

I know all about the family stuff, my wife and my 3 year old daughter love the Balloon museum at Balloon Fiesta Park.   Here is the site http://www.balloonmuseum.com
The petroglyph monument http://www.nps.gov/petr/ and the Biological park http://www.cabq.gov/biopark/ are some of my families favorites.

Golf - Paco Ridge is a pretty nice course, Sandia casino has built a new one that I haven't played yet.

I have played both and also played the University Course at New Mexico. Paco is hands down the best couse that is available. If you get a chance PLAY IT, if not for you, play it and tell me about it, since I will not be there

Several different tees to pick from. Don't be a show off and play from the tips. I played with a 1 handicapper and he had to play from the backs. Lets just say that some holes it took 2 to get to the fairway I think I shot 104 and was very happy to have done that. Typically can shoot high 80's low 90's. I can't say enough about the course.

Pat,

I was wondering how you knew so much about Albuquerque; now I see on the map. You can fall out of bed in the morning and you're almost there!!! I didn't realize you were so close.

Jeff,

Rio Rancho is basically a suburb of Albuquerque.  I've lived in the "Q" for a good 8-9 years and in the area since 1983.   Yes, I'm old.......

The Staybridge Suites is actually pretty nice and in a good part of town, usually anything along the I-25 corridor is going to be a safe bet.

any of you locals have any info on the Staybridge Suites near the Balloon Park?  Also we will be arriving in ABQ on 3/10 with my wife and 16 month old daughter...any suggestions on things to do during the week?

We bowl 3/12 team @ 230 and 3/13 minors @ 700. Ouch!!!

Thanks in advance for any info!!!

Hello. We are coming to Albuquerque in May and was wandering if you can tell me about the Super 8 Motel on 2500 University Blvd NE, Exit 227A off I-40? Is it in a good area and is the Motel nice? Or is the Doubletree Hotel, 201 Marquette NW by the convention center okay? Or can you suggest one that is close to convention center that is in a nice area? Please let me know. Thanks.
