Anybody have anything good or bad to say about the hotels in Reno this year? According to a flyer I received, the Sands should be upgraded from last time, with refreshed rooms and new beds. Anybody find that to be true? What about some of the others? Is the Peppermill finished with all the construction?

I'm at the Atlantis right now, this place is better than I thought (I usually stay at the Silver Legacy when in Reno). It's about a 10 minute drive to the stadium on Virginia St., depending on the traffic. The only reason I'm here is a friend of mine, who is a travel agent, got me the best deal here when I was ready to book the trip. I would come back, I like it.
The Peppermill doesn't look like it has any construction going on. Friends of mine are in the El Dorado, and are happy there. It looks like all the major hotels have shuttles to the stadium, so you don't have to rent a car if you don't want...and of course, several are in walking distance to the stadium anyhow.
The Silver Legacy sports book & bar is definitely the place to be to watch March Madness...great time.

Just got back. Would be tough to stay at the Sands again and I can elaborate if needed.

Iceman, what happened?

We stayed at Silver Legacy. Rooms were clean, casino in general was clean and well kept. Employees were friendly. Food was very good.

It IS next year!

I stayed at Eldorado and I must say it was fantastic..

El Dorado and Silver Legacy have always been my favorite.
I stayed at Harrahs, and have no complaints either, but spent most of my time gambling at El Dorado / Silver Legacy. Their buffets & comp rating system are better too. And All 3 are easily walkable to the stadium
