We are supposed to bowl in a couple weeks and I am taking my five year old son to the tournament to watch and then a couple day vacation after.  Is there anywhere for him to sit so I can watch him while I bowl?  I tried looking at pictures and video and I can't see where people have to sit and it will be just us going and i can't leave him way off by himself.  If anyone can please tell me how the seating is or if you can have a child closer to keep an eye on them it would help me greatly.  I have never been to a USBC open before and did not know how it worked but know he can't be on the lane.  Please help

The grandstands are back about 20'+ or so behind the bowlers area in which railing separates the bowlers area from a walkway that divides the bowlers area and the grandstands.  Make sure you bring a jacket for him as it gets pretty chilly in there if you aren't bowling.  I had to buy my wife a jacket after the first day of team events so she wouldn't freeze to death during singles and doubles.

Irishfan I understand. Are any of your teammates bringing someone along that could help you out?

Possibly bring a portable chair and have him sit on the other side of the railing from where you are bowling that way he is right behind you.

On a side note, if you are there alone....they generally do not allow non bowlers back in the the scale room/squad room....so you may have to explain your situation to the tournament managers if you do not have anyone in your group that could help watch your son for 30 minutes to an hour before team event.

One of our bowlers had his son with him and the tournament officials would not allow his child to go beyond where you weigh-in your equipment or passed that to the squad room.

I appreciate all the info guys.  It looks like I will have to pull out of this as none of the other people are bringing family and are only staying for the two days of bowling while we were staying a few extra for vacation.  Maybe another year will work out better
