Team work is the key at nationals. It's the only way for a group to be successful as a whole. Junior Team USA bowled amazing.

there is a reason they have bowled so well these last 3 years.  All 5 are great bowlers in their own right.  Throw them together working as a team is even more dangerous.  It was great seeing them work together and root each other on.  I'll watch their live stream every year they are on.

Where do you watch it

BowlTV's Youtube channel.

JTUSA Support is a high class outfit. They actually showed up, all together, and sat together to watch Janz H.I.'s appearance at Minors to get a read of the pattern and how it transitioned. Cannizzarro and Smith even brought them onto the stream for a bit as well.

But definitely subscribe to that channel, and you should get notified on when the next livestream will be on. They are supposed to be busy with them this month.

I know Erik Vermilyea from my time working at USBC, and I used to bowl against LaCaze way back in the day during ABT events in the Chicagoland area. Long story short, this is a group of VERY talented bowlers with many, many years ahead of them. If they stay together as a group, there is no reason to think that they won't be in the mix year in and year out for a long time. Their team resume is already more impressive than most ever hope to be, and they are all very young.

what shocks me is how well they communicate with eachother, while during the tournament, and especially BEFORE the tournament, given that they are spread out all over the country.

Vermilyea is now in Vegas where he was from somewhere back east (Michigan, or Illinois?), while Warzinski is in my backyard (Lincoln, CA, just outside of Sacramento). I bowl with her in league. Distance alone makes it extremely hard to get the entire group together to practice day in/day out, so to be able to go over the shot, and chat online about strategy, and equipment almost sight unseen, and to be able to put up performances that get you back to back Eagles is amazing.

Brad,
You have to remember the skill set of the bowler's involved. These are bowlers of the highest quality. LaCaze was on tour, Vermilyea could have been if he wanted to be, and while I do not know the other bowlers on this team other then there participation here, I have to believe that are of the same mold. Knowing the shot, it would be easy to put together a basic game plan, and for these bowlers to practice it prior to arriving. Once there, I promise you they booked time on the showcase lanes to actually bowl together and see if that plan needed any minor adjustments. Plus, these guys have access to many great bowling minds, I would assume to bounce ideas off of, like I would believe that are all staffers for a ball company and have access to the tour reps/ball reps for their respective brands. But the bottom-line is that these are some of the top bowlers in the country. While it would be very hard to do this for the more average bowler, I don't believe the distance negatively effects these guys much, if at all.

No argument there at all. Their bona fides speak for themselves. I believe it was Cannizzarro that said that each person on their team was either a member of Team USA, Junior Team USA, or bowled in Collegiates. They've got game, and know it damn well. I have no doubt they not only jumped on the Showcase Lanes, but also bowled the BJ.

My point was that if they only see each other once per year, they have to seriously do their homework, and do it WELL, and put it together in a very short period of time. Not many bowlers can do that, and do it that quickly to earn back-to-back eagles. It takes an intimate knowledge of each bowler's game to put it all together as a team, and for all of them to come together from different parts of the country and put up performances like that is nothing short of phenomenal.

My point is that most other teams at least try to practice together (once, if not multiple times) at some point prior even making the trip out. To me, it sounds like this team didn't, and if that's the case, that makes this even more amazing.

In short, I'm not saying that the distance is a detriment; in fact, quite the opposite. I'm more in awe.
