If you like Italian, go here:

http://www.scalonobhill.com/

Their pastas are made at the restaurant and everyone in my group thought the place was outstanding.

The resturant on top of the Sandia is WAY expensive.  For me and my wife, we paid $14 each for the tram ride, and then $81 for 2 dinners.  I felt that the plate didnt have enough for the amount we paid.  It is however a very nice view!

There is a BBQ/Steak type Restaurant on Tramway Blvd that has a nice dinning room window overlooking the city. They have pretty good food and will cost you about the same as any other restaurant. Italian, there is Trombino's that charlest ate at while he was here. This is my wife's favorite restaurant in town. Very good food. Maybe not as romantic though but nice. Scalo's is nice, but there menu is a little more exotic. I know they have things like roast duck and the like on it. Only been there at lunch time so not sure how their ambiance is. There is a Mexican restaurant at the base of the tram that has good food and a view, but not sure on the prices. Another good Mexican place is El Pinto located down by the river in the Bosque. It is more of a hacienda style house than restaurant but sprawling with indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of plants and flowers and it is early enough that the Cottonwood trees aren't shedding yet. Very good food. My wife love's there food and she hates Mexican food.

If none of these sound good, let me know and I can list some more with the type of meal you are looking for.

Later,
Mike

I haven't eaten here ... http://www.lacrepemichel.com/ ... but friends have and they said it was very cozy and quaint.  From the looks of the photo on the website, there seems to be patio dining.  Depending on the weather, that might be nice.  You can view the menus on the website and see if it might be something that would interest you and the little lady.

We had good luck at Texas Land and cattle for steak. Maybe not a romantic place (chain) but good eats for the team. We also had awesome ribs at a little place near the entrance of the college. Kind of a hole in the wall but the ribs and beer were the best.

I'll agree with Lefty, Texas Land and Cattle isn't the most romantic but the food was very good.  Our group of 13 went there and had a blast.
