USBC Nationals, you been there yet
« on: March 27, 2007, 01:51:11 AM »
I had heard from a bowler who has already competed that the boys in the check in room are saying that if you use vaccu grips they can't be sticking up past the surface. I know a few bowlers who have more than 5/16's reverse in the finger and theirs is indeed above the ball surface.

Just wondering

I beleive that's just a normal rule, not specific to vaccu grips.  No part of a slug or grip should be sticking up past the surface.

No definitely is the "normal rule".  I use 3/8 and 1/2 reverse in my fingers and all of my grips stick up above the ball surface after glueing.  I take a razor blade and trim them as close to the surface as I can, then put some acetone on a rag and smooth the edges of the grips.
