BTM and 123
« on: April 20, 2010, 12:43:44 PM »
For those who have bowled the Grand Sierra what worked for you in the BTM or 123?  I bowled the BTM late in the afternoon and they were hooking inside and the outside was inconsistent.  The total bedlam was way too strong inside and at 2k it wasn't strong enough outside.  I have it at 1k now and it should be able to handle the outside better.

I certainly didn''t have the right roll.  Two of the guys from the Red Carpet Lanes were bowling the BTM the day before their team event and they didn''t score that well either..as least the set I saw them bowl.  The next day they were in second place in team , one of guys is in second place in AE at the Nats.

Edit: it looks like they figured it out the next set because they are currently 5th and 6th at the BTM.

Approaches were fairly slick IMO and I dont normally have a problem with approaches. I only bowled the 1-2-3 but the shot was not the same as Nationals like they try to make it seem. The back ends were much weaker at the 1-2-3.

The surface is hard to replicate.  Wast the amount of oil in the heads close to the national level?

Sort of.. it felt like Highway to Hell as a fresh pattern to me over at the 1-2-3. More hold than at the bowling stadium but also more out of bounds.

Locally, highway to hell has an out of bounds around 5 or so and the track is around 10.  In between, the ball may or may not make it depending on rev rate and surface and the backends.  They don't strip the lanes before laying down the pattern.

Do any of you know if the Grand Sierra provides a shuttle service from the National Bowling Stadium to the Grand Sierra?  I was thinking of bowling the BTM and I will not have a car while at Reno.

I don't recall seeing a shuttle but it's only a couple of miles from the stadium.  A cab ride should be pretty cheap both ways.

Thanks for the replies! I'll definitely cab it to the BTM from the NBS.
