Late shift doubles&singles

I just got picked up off the sub-board and I bowl singles and doubles at 11:30pm on 5-18. Any thoughts on the last shift of the night?

I've bowled it a couple times, I'd rather not do it again but it didn't seem any different than the other D/S squads.  There might be a few less bowlers on the late shift when compared to earlier times.

My main question was what to use, and how bad have the lanes broken down. I know what fresh is, but have never bowled that late before.

They condition the lanes for the 8:30 p.m. team squad, and you'll follow that.  You shouldn't see anymore breakdown than any D/S squad directly after the team event.  The one I don't ever want to bowl again is the last D/S squad of the morning - 11:20 a.m., I think.  There are two D/S shifts before it, and the lanes can be total crap.

The zombie squad.

If you come from the east it feels like you start bowling at 2 in the morning.

It all depends on who was in front of you in team.

If they all played together on the outside then there could be a pretty shot around 15 depending on how much hand you have.

If they are all using sanded stuff and starting deep they can really be chopped up and playing deep.

I tend to use mid range particle pearls to start.

Debina hit it right on. They oil before every Team Event with S/D following so it is always going to be the same breakdown for D/S. The teams that I joined two years ago have always had this late shift for D/S, so I have bowled it the last two years and we are already signed up to bowl it again this year.

They oil for the 7:00 AM doubles and singles.

They then bowl 3 sets of doubles and singles on that oiling.

They oil for the afternoon team squad.

Then one D/S squad

They oil for the evening team squad

The one D/S squad.

So both team squads get fresh.

Only the 7:00 AM doubles and singles get fresh.

The other doubles and singles squads get left overs from the other double singles squads or team squads.

my shift is 11:40am D/S so I am assuming we are the 3rd shift on that oil.  maybe not good.

Yes you are the 3rd shift.

You never know. Depends on who is on in front of you. What line they play. What they used.

Sometimes a shift will not be full and you may catch a pair with only one shift that bowled on them.

Sorry for the confusion!  I couldn't recall the exact starting time of the third D/S squad in the mornings.  Anyway, yep, the 11:40 a.m. squad is the third shift after the lanes are conditioned for 7 a.m.  I've bowled it both times we've gone to the Open and don't want to do it again.  It's not a huge deal for two of us on the left, but the righthanders had a crispy shot with lots of over/under.

We're bowling 8:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. this year.  We'll see if I like it better.
