Can you bowl in nationals w/o an est avg?
« on: June 02, 2008, 05:16:09 AM »
I want to bowl nationals in '09 but I was thinking about not bowling any leagues next season, only tournaments.  So can this be done or do you have to have an established average to enter the tournament?

You should be able to use your 07-08 average. You will just have to pay your sanction fee.

I would guess you could and they'd just make you bowl scratch.  Isn't that how they do tournaments still?

As long as you are a current USBC member, you can bowl.  Averages are only for separating bowlers into divisions - Classified (below 180) and Open (180 and above).  The USBC has an average verification form that you will fill out if you are Classified.

The tournament is scratch for all divisions.
